Right Hand, Left Hand or Both

The last couple of weeks I have been enjoying a cigar while walking to work. I figured doing each of these things relaxes me, so why not try both at once.

While smoking, I have noticed I cannot hold a cigar in my left hand for the life of me (I'm right handed). It just doesn't feel right. The only time it is in my left hand is when I am lighting it. I also have a tendency to hold a cigar like I would hold a cigarette between my 1st and middle finger, I then shift the cigar between my thumb and 1st finger for smoking or if I get close to the numb.

I was wondering if other people have this same problem or do most people use both hands?

So I decided to take a poll - I haven't seen a post like this before and if there was one, it is probably out-dated.

I didn't get a chance to include the poll, so you deleted the one I was working on, I was going to ask someone to delete this one, that is cool. Will check out the older thread. The problem is that poll doesn't give the option of smoking with both hands.

I keep mine in my left most of the time... I usually try to keep my right hand free to do something with... and these days, with a toddler in the house, I've been banished to smoke outside... as a consequence, I'm relighting more than I used to... and I can't work my lighter with my left... I've only recently become more aware of my preference because of my internet surfing while smoking habit... the laptop directly in front of me forces me to choose one side or the other to put the ashtray... It's always on the left.

If I did something like this, it might force me to use my left hand if I wanted to smoke and use the mouse at the same time (can't use a mouse with my left hand either). Currently, I don't use an ashtray since I smoke outside, so I am always holding the cigar.

I added the poll for you.

I smoke with my right almost exclusively. Sometimes I will light it in my left hand, but consciously or unconsciously move it to my right hand.

No, not unconscious as in "too much Stoli"...

Could you, it wouldn't let me doing after posting the thread? How about this:

Right handed - smoke with right hand

Left handed - smoke with left hand

Right handed - smoke with left hand

Left handed - smoke with right hand

Doesn't matter I smoke with both

Just shows you that the admins on this site are on top of things. Deleted my duplicate post before I could even finish writing it.

Looks great, Tom - sorry for the confusion. I tried to change the title of my first post and the back button was not the right thing to do. After that I lost the ability to add the poll. Figured I would re-post and ask someone to close the first thread.

I think I am the same way, except I always light with the cigar in my left hand then move it as soon as I put my lighter away. When I do have it in my left hand it just feels really weird.

You're just a little faster than me tonight. It is all good now.

The issue was my wife needed something so I got temporarily distracted, when I got back and tried to submit, it said the thread was no longer available.

Right handed, but smoke with the left. I hold my drink in the right. I always have a beverage of some sort when I smoke.

Same here, seems to work for me. At least I think that's what I do??
