Re: Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Conn...

I picked up one Thursday night when me and Techninja went down to Mack's Cigars in Atlanta to meet Mr. Patel himself. I smoked an Edge while I was there... it was awesome. I asked Rocky about the Vintage 1999 and he described it as "smooth and creamy". I've yet to try mine, though... it's still resting in the humi. I look forward to hearing what others think about it

PS. If you ever get the chance to meet Rocky Patel, do it. He is a heck of a nice guy

Re: Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Conn...

I tried the 1999 this past week while on vacation. I've had some sore throat and allergy stuff going on all week, so I'm sure my taste was a little off, but I didn't really enjoy it. The flavor was fairly mild and it was very smooth... almost creamy. But the main flavors I tasted were bitterness and sort of an ashtray flavor. About half way through, the not-so-nice flavors increased and I gave up. It wasn't really that bad... just not good. I'll try another sometime when I'm well and see how I like it. Maybe I'm just one of those guys who likes the dark, oily goodness of a maduro wrapper.... none of this pansy shade-grown stuff

Re: Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Conn...

Had my first one of the Torpedos yesterday morning with a cup of coffee.
I really enjoyed this cigar. Very creamy and smooth as advertised. There was also the complexity you get from the regular RP Connecticut line, but in a more refined delivery. This is a nice one for those who enjoy mild smokes IMHO.

I would agree, had one yesterday at lunch. Very mild indeed. Burned perfect and did not get bitter at the end. Just a bit too mild for my tastes.
