I'm a fan of the 5 Vegas lines. Has anyone tried the new Cask Strength line that I saw on CigarsInternational? If so, can you post a review? Thanks!

Wow- looks like 5 Vegas is jumping on the Dominican Wrapper idea- that was pretty quick if I may so say so myself. Generally you only see dominican wrapper on very high priced sticks since it is so hard to cultivate- but they say 2006 was a vintage year I believe...

I have never heard that before ... and never really noticed. That's why I love this place. I seem to learn something every day.

Yep-that's why Opus X is so expensive etc... it's a dominican Puro if I'm not mistaken.

I think the Fuentes were the first family/company to really-not the first ever to produce dominican wrapper- prove the cigar industry wrong that dominican leaf cannot be cultivated and cultivated regularly (though not in large amounts).

Glad to learn ya some!

But if I messed up please correct me guys.

Re: Has anyone tried the new 5 Vegas Cask Strength?

I was just trolling CI’s new products and saw these, did a search before I posted the same thread you did. I am very interested in these as well, that is a great idea and cool looking box. It says that it’s a one time production of 3000 boxes so the price seems reasonable. The wrapper, binder, and filler all sound fantastic. I’ve never tried a 5 Vegas, none of the local B&M’s carry them and I don’t know why. Hopefully someone will post a review soon.

I’ve read that the Opus was the first “successful” (at least) Dominican wrapper to hit the shelves, and most thought it couldn’t be done, but I could be off base here as well. The X in Opus X was named for the “secret” Project X –growing wrapper in the Dominican. If someone has more info to the contrary please let me know. You are right in that they are a Dominican Puro. All that I know for sure is that I love those smokes.

Saw them yesterday and did a search on them with no luck, and they are not on top 25. Thinking maybe I might have to pull the trigger.

I agree, the name of those is kinda silly. it's not like they come from a cask and get watered down normally it's not like scotch or something....

but still, i'm a fan of a few of the 5-vegas, so i was interested in trying these too when i saw them

I won a fiver and will post a review once I'm done letting em rest. They arrived very wet and have a sweet, young smell to them.
