SoCal Cigar rambling
Ok, here are some of the smokes I had at SoCal III and some thoughts.
Took out a couple of boxes for sharing (98 Monti #4s & 01 RASCC) and my 30 ct Zero full of singles. The early '98 Montis were VG, a little on the woody side for me - IMHO these will be much better in another 10 years. The late '01 RASCC were VG/EX and continue my very good remarks on 2001 as a whole - simply amazing turn around from previous couple of years. Nice horsepower with that nice RA flavor from beginning to end. From the zero - '93 Cohiba Sig V - excellent smoke - SLR & Rene both enjoyed these very much - got to love the pre '94 blend tobacco! Late '01 RASS - just like the RASCC, with a little less horsepower but actually more RA flavor - noted an excellent burn for such a young pup. Everything about this cigar really encourages purchasing more boxes of these for long term storage. Smoked a few of the special cigars poker talks about every so often - I call them Cuban farms - as usuall these were excellent smokes and glad I picked up some to bring back. As usual, the dawrah auction alone was worth the trip to SoCal. Anyone who has been involved with one knows what I mean. Formula - several people donate special cigars + poker as the auctioneer = fun, fun, fun! I took out a couple 'special' smokes (late 80s davi #1 & '94 monti), but someone else will get to enjoy them as I donated them to the auction the night before the herf. Not sure how much the monti sold for, but I know Kerry donated a davi #2 (it's little brother lol) to go along with the davi #1 and the pair sold for $150. Kelly donated some old (93?) Joyitas and I was lucky enough to buy a 5 pack of them. Excellent little cigars that will almost make your head spin! LOL Several other awesome cigars were donated and I hope others will chime in with descriptions. That's about all I can relay for now concerning cigars I had. Once again, thanks to the SoCal crew for making us welcome to LA, throwing such a great party (actually parties! lol) and taking the time to make us feel like honored guests!

RE: SoCal Cigar rambling
Thanks for the review of SoCal III.
Wish I could have been there but I had people to my house to celebrate the 4th. |
