Cool Viva the Good Life!!!!!!

I love driving when I have to go on business trips.

Had to go to San Antonio last week. Our meeting started at 9AM so I had to leave at 4:30AM. As that is much earlier than I usually get up, it was difficult but I looked forward to the cigars I would smoke on the way.

I listened to several of my favorite CD's on the way - Sinatra, Cash, and a local band (Moodafaruka) that I just love. Smoked stogies the whole way. But I've never started that early in the morning, so it was dark almost the whole way there. As I pulled out, with coffee in hand, cigar just lit up, I realized just how dark it was. As I was taking US 90A instead of the freeway, I was out in the boondocks, but I love taking the path less traveled, so it was intentional.

So there I am, in almost total darkness, feeling a bit initimidated, when I realize the only light source is the cherry on my cigar!! It was like a beacon light in the fog, and thus enheartened, I continued on my journey.

The combination of great coffee, great cigars, cool tunes and a great ride done in the dark and wee hours o' the morn all combined to create a state as close to bliss as I think I have ever been. There's nothing look forward to more than an opportunity to recreate this experience, so I am greatly anticipating my next business trip!!

Viva the Good Life!!!

Re: Viva the Good Life!!!!!!

Sounds great! Not that early in the morning, but I'll have a nice little 4 hour trek up to Tahoe once I get off work on Friday. Couple of smokes, tunes on the iPod, and the boring ride.

Like the old saying: "It's not the destination, but the journey."

Sounds like a good time!
I've only smoked in my car twice. The latter was on the way to camping this year, following a friends' trailer (slowly...)

Re: Viva the Good Life!!!!!!

Hell yeah! I had a garage sell at 5:30am last Saturday and with coffee in hand I lit up a cigar while selling. It was cold and both the cigar and coffee warmed me up. Early morning cigars rock!

It was a little while since I been down there, actually the only time was for the RTDA atfirst the city seemed dumpy to me but the river walk and my hotel attatched to a mall and the Little Rhine Steakhouse bring it all together. Plus great authentic Mexican food nothing like you get around the Boston area.

Re: Viva the Good Life!!!!!!

sounds excellent! I don't typically smoke in the car, but for a long trip like that, that'd be great indeed!

Bah, the River Walk is for tourists!!! Heh, I've done the River Walk thing so many times I'll not go back unless I'm sorely tempted. Threre are plenty of delights in San Antonio that are off the beaten path. I'm starting to warm up to this city, but no city will ever take the place of Houston in my heart.

I think I'm going to Houston next July I think. RTDA is gonna be there I don't know why they just won't keep it at Vegas every year like the NATO show.

Re: Viva the Good Life!!!!!!

Sounds nice.. Welcome to my world of early morning AM smokes. I get up for work 1.5 hours early every day just so I can get to work and have that early morning smoke. I smoke once I get to work, sitting outside, just listening to the radio, and relaxing. Ive found it makes for a much nicer day.

Re: Viva the Good Life!!!!!!

My sister has had a few business trips to Texas recently. So I have been hitting a few east Texas towns to meet up with her. Your absolutely right, good cigars, coffee, and music on the less traveled roads---just can't beat it. Especially since the weather cooled down.
