La Gloria Cubana Serie R

Does anyone else find this cigar similar to the Hoyo Dark Sumatra? This is my first experience with the La Gloria brand, however I have been smoking the Hoyo Dark Sumatra's for some time now. The seem nearly identical in construction and flavour... although the appearance in quite different. Any input??

Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra Espresso (4.5 x 50)

La Gloria Cubana Serie R #4 (4-7/8 x 52)

Actually, I have just placed my first order for LGC #4 Series R, after having read so much good press about them (and some bad). I'm looking forward to letting them settle a bit so they will be ready to enjoy in the spring when we're out of the deep freeze!

I really enjoy nice strong maduros, so I'm ready!!

IMHO......LGC`s are overrated, inconsistant and tasteless.......if you like a strong maduro try a joya de nicaragua antano......

OH Man! Talk about a bubble-burster! How do you really feel Nero? heh-heh

I saw the inconsistency comments about LGC, but have always wanted to try them and I got a few at a good price...we'll see. I'll definitely look for the maduro you mentioned however!

It's a good cigar... although like the Hoyo Dark Sumatra the draw is almost too much (is there such a thing?) and it can easily overheat and go to shit in a hurry....

The flavour is good (leaves your lips tingling) but my tastes seem to have gone away from this type of cigar after dissapointments with the Dark Sumatra. They have been going through some consistency problems lately as the cigars seem really young and have draw problems as well (apparently LGC has had the same problems?). I went through 4 boxes of the Espressos this year... the first 2 were wonderful, but the last 2 were crap!

I'll probably pick up some more singles of the LGC Serie R though as it was good... over rated?? Probably... but, still a good smoke.

I happen to enjoy the Serie R #7's very much. I prefer the natural to the Maduro but both are very good. I have been through a couple of boxes already. I think they are a great go-to cigar. Just my opionion.

LGC Serie R Maduro's, One of my favorite domestics, and always part of my regular rotation, which reminds me, I've got to get more.
