From what I read it will fit ~350. I've yet to transfer my sticks and don't have anywhere near that amount yet though. From test fitting several boxes in there I think it will fit ~6 20/25 ct boxes...that's with only 2 of the 4 trays installed.

I have about 350 in mine now, and it's pretty full. I think you could just about squeeze in almost 400 with careful packing, two rows on the top shelf, and a few sticks packed vertically below. If they were all robusto size on average.

Question about the seasoning- is it ok if I use plastic dishes to put the distilled water in?

I'm thinkin yeah- but I'm just being anal at this point and don't want to impart any weird smells into the humidor.

What type of dishes do you guys/girls usually use?

I'm thinking shallow and wide dishes that will have more surface area and will help the water evaporate quicker.

I just got mine a little over a week ago and am real happy with it. I used an ceramic dish (the size you would put a bowl of soup in) about 2/3rds full of warm distilled water and let it sit for 2 days. After that, I added some beads and took out the water and it leveled out at 65% and has stayed there since. It's a really nice unit for the price. You'll enjoy it.

Warm? How warm? Just room temp or did you actually nuke it some? I see how this would help the seasoning process but could you go overboard with this?

Two days? That's quick!

Re: Okay Guys- I Broke Down!- Vicksburg!

I nuked it for about 45 seconds. It wasn't boiling hot, but warm enough that it evaporated and a little steam built up on the glass. It seemed to do the trick. It's been stable ever since. I've probably got a couple hundred cigars in it now, and it stays right at 65%. I've got 2 digital hygrometers in it - one in the top tray and one in the bottom of the humi along with 3 tubes of beads - two .5 oz tubes in the top 2 trays and one 2 oz tube in the bottom.

I might just give that a try- that's a quick seasoning (2 days) and i bet it was due to the warm water.

I ordered half a pound of beads and two 2 ounce tubes. I'm gonna keep one tube in each of the levels of the trays and then gonna transfer the remaining quarter pound to the humidifier that comes with the Vicky- probably with pantyhose.

You want to be careful of this..

If too much condensation builds up on the glass top, it could drip back onto the cedar. Not good.

I seasoned my Vicksburg with room temp distilled water... took about 4 days (I never opened it once, had a radioshack remote sensor hygro).

Don't rush it and end up ruining your humidor because some water dripped back on the cedar.

For what it's worth, I put the water in a tupperware that was about the exact size of a sandwich... probably 6"x6" and about 1.5" deep.

Also, the stock humifer caused some mold inside my Vicks. I cleaned it out and did the pantyhose-beads thing, no problems since.

Re: Okay Guys- I Broke Down!- Vicksburg!

congrats on the great purchase. i've had mine for about six months now and absolutely love it. i started out storing boxes in the bottom but now everthing is loose in there. makes for a lot more room as long as you don't mind being a little unorganized. i keep a few stick from each group/brand in the top to trays for "smoke now", and let the babies in the bottom rest. i've got a whole pound of 70% beads in mine, two "puck" type containers in the top, two western style humidifiers in the second trays and the rest of the beads are in a panyhose in the bottom sectioned off with one of the dividers that comes with it. holds 68%rh steady as a rock.
