Re: Someone educate me on Gurkhas

One thing that I have to say for the Gurkha cigars that I've tried is that I've never had one that was downright bad. I can't say that I've loved every one of their blends, but I can say that the few that I didn't care for were because of my tastes... not because they were crappy cigars.

Oh yeah... if you really want to impress casual smokers in the area, smoke one of the Gurkhas with the huge brightly colored bands. Gurkha puts out some really impressive bands! I'm sort of like a ferret... I like shiny objects!

Nepalese Warrior is fantastic if you get them on CBID at a reasonable price (sub $4 is possible). They have many 5 packs there right now for bidding. I've had one and more sitting in my humi. My new favorite stick of the month. You can also get some samplers from the same site and they seem to have many of them for you try out.

Re: Someone educate me on Gurkhas

I have a bunch of varities of Gurkha that I won on CBid lounging in the humi.

So far I have tried the Grand Master Dos Capas (Barber Pole) and the vintage '8 year aged' churchill (x2). I really liked both. These two are milder than what I usually smoke but mild in a good way. I usually hear mild and think boring but both of these varieties were very good in my opinion.

Still to try I have some Doble Maduros, Genghis Khan, Nepalese Warriors, Expetitions, and Centurions. Definitely one of my favorite parts of the hobby - the new stick!

My

Gurkha has such a wide variety of cigars, like any brand some are good and some are not... Like you said CI runs a lot of deals on them...Give them a try.

Re: Someone educate me on Gurkhas

I've tried three Gurkha lines:

The Master's Select was medium-to-full bodied.

The Expedition was very mild.

The Class Regent was just plain bland. (Maybe I just had a bad box. Don't know why so many people like them!)

Re: Someone educate me on Gurkhas

I've never had a class regent I would describe as bland. Both full bodied and full flavored in my experience. Now, some of the legends when young...

Re: Someone educate me on Gurkhas

Like a lot of other people have said already check cbid. If you are patient most blends can be had for a very affordable price. Just set your max price for a paticular item and be patient. You'll win more than you might think!!

Re: Someone educate me on Gurkhas

Doble Maduro was fantastic. It tasted of butter and was truly a great smoke.

Nepalese Warrior was good but unremarkable until the final third, then the flavors of spice and nuts kicked in.

I'm definitely having fun exploring and sampling the Gurkhas!
