wrapper cracking

What can cause a wrapper cracking or spliting. I was smoking a 5 vegas A earlier and about 2" into it, the wrapper just split open. What causes this?

Perhaps to much humidity in your humidor, causing the tobacco to swell. I know I have had the occasional stick split if my humi is a little out of wack. We get very dry and hot summers down here in Aussie, so keeping the humi regulated is troublesome some days.

When you light the cigar and it gets hot, it can accentuate the split.

Re: wrapper cracking

I have found that sometimes humidity/temp causes bad things to happen while smoking. I haven't had any super disasters yet, but usually I have wrapper problems.

Re: wrapper cracking

I tend to think it's a defective cigar unless many from the same box do the same. I've had on many occasions, a cigar split for no reason while the rest from the same box are fine. Blame yourself as a last resort.
