ISO opinions on larger RG Nacionales W
I've worked my way through a corona sampler that I bought a few months ago from CK. Probably I've favored the HyG, Cuban Diplomat (Conn Shade) and Nacionales W above HLs and HSs. At any rate, to my taste I find Nacionales W a strong med with cocoa/coffee flavor and plenty of spice from that wicked corojo 99 wrapper.... So that's the coronas.
Right now I see that Nacionales W, along with HyG are on sale at CK and I'm considering a larger RG purchase in the Nacionales W, specifically the Churchill size since these are said to be patterened after the RyJ Churchill. However, I've had numerous burn irregularities on Pepin cigars of all makes and sizes. It could be the extra oily (perhaps thicker) wrapper leaf. It could be how individual leaves are blended to bring out certain flavors. It could be a reflection of higher than necessary RH for this brand over a recent period. Here are the questions: For those of you with experience in smoking larger RG Nacionales W, how well have they burned? Have you noticed any changes over time in your own storage and over time from various periods of production? Have you noticed underfilled cigars at any time in your experience with this brand? As always, TIA, -E

Re: ISO opinions on larger RG Nacionales W
Eichen,
Here is a good read for you - http://www.cigarenvy.com/2006/07/03/...beyond-part-i/ I haven't started into my CK samplers quite yet. The attached website/review stresses on many occasions that Pepins cigars (Corojo/Criollo) need to be stored at low RH. It says you can expect burn problems otherwise. Hope it helps with the burn issues anyhow. Cheers, BillyBarue |

Re: ISO opinions on larger RG Nacionales W
When it comes to Pepin cigars and specifically the lines that contain Corojo or Liguero leaves I store them at 60% for at least a week. I haven't had any burn problems, but I still haven't smoked my Nationales W.
Liguero and Corojo are said to be like sponges when it comes to humidity and with too much humidity you may get burn issues. ![]()

I've also read the cigar envy article several times, slobbering all the way! That along with several threads here really, really, really makes me want to buy more (because I have had a number of Pepin cigars perform perfectly in all aspects). Anyway, keep the ideas, suggestions, impressions coming. I'll be here to read them off an on. -E

I keep my humis at 65-66% but I always dry box my Pepins for a few hours or a day before I smoke them and I rarely have any issues.

Re: ISO opinions on larger RG Nacionales W
So no one's experienced any problems as long as the rh remains below 65%?
I can do that!
