2006 Anejo MSRP Poll
I'm looking for a gauge here from BOTLs that purchased, or looked seriously at purchasing( those would answer the poll based on the "available" options) Anejos this past year (mainly the December supply of these).
I personally ran across Anejos at only one of the B & M's that I use, and ended up paying about $3 per stick above the internet listed MSRP, which I was willing to do, but could come away with only two each of the two sizes the B & M had. As a part of the poll, I am also looking for how many that purchased had "buy" limits imposed. I'm not knocking any B & M for asking more than MSRP or for putting limits on the number purchased. I understand the supply and demand thing, I also understand that many will pay extra just to get a shot at one of these, which also effects the market. That's just life. I live with it, and I chose to pay a premium, because that was the only way I had available to purchase these in small quantity without using $15 in extra gas to go to the far side of town B & M's. That is one of the drawbacks in living where I do, there are not a lot of choices in B & M's (basically, one). I would be especially interested in hearing from Andy, who lives on the "rich" side of Birmingham (j/k, Andy), where there are several more B & M's that I know he does business with. That would give me a personal view of the difference in my local market.I'm just curious as to how the 2006 December Anejo season went for you guys and gals. Oh, yeah, this is my first attempt at a poll, so be gentle about any screw-ups I made!! Edit (2006 MSRP for Anejos): http://www.cigarpass.com/forums/inde...howtopic=14037 NOTE that these MSRP do not include taxes, but, then again, the price I'm considering that I paid was the posted price on the cigar, then tax was added afterwards, so keep that in mind. Re: 2006 Anejo MSRP Poll
Anejo season (Dec) was bad in NYC. Many of the B&M inflated their prices 100%+ more than the MSRP. Cigar Inn was selling the 77 Shark for $40 ($10 MSRP).
So instead of buying from many B&M in NYC I just bought Carlito's Sampler from Holts There was suppose to be a 2 cigar limit each on Fuentes, but the price gauging B&Ms were selling boxes. And now there is also a price increase across the board on A. Fuente gars. ![]()

Full box of 46's for $200.
Additional 55's for somewhere between $10-$12...really don't remember.

55's and 77's at local B&M for around $5 over MSRP. No limits (they said unless I wanted all of them
)

Re: 2006 Anejo MSRP Poll
My local tobacconist just got in a box of anejo #50s at $13.00. There is a limit of one, I really don't mind at all. I go in there enough and pick one up here and there. He has a lot of regulars and I think it's only fair that more people can get a chance to try them. Instead of one or two people hoarding them all.

Re: 2006 Anejo MSRP Poll
I can't vote because I bought from a few (three) different B+M's. Given two were the same company, but they had different rules.
I mostly got mine for close to MSRP plus tax. I'm not sure if they were over due to cigar tax, but I have a feeling they were slightly over. I got mine mostly in the $10-almost $12 range after all taxes. One B+M had a limit of two per customer... the wife and I went twice in one day (opening and closing so two different salesmen). That was where I got the sharks. The other two B+M's, one associated with the 2 per customer ones didn't have a limit, so I got boxes there.

Re: 2006 Anejo MSRP Poll
My B&M is about 25% over MSRP but that includes state tax of 10%, sales tax of 8.375% so his extra is only 6.625% on box purchases. If you buy singles add another 10%.
Opus prices vary from 25%-40% over MSRP. He is one of the better B&Ms I've found some charge 50%+.

Re: 2006 Anejo MSRP Poll
Thanks for the link. I paid $6.50 for my #46's. Now that was before the price increase. They only had one box but did not put a limit on them.

Re: 2006 Anejo MSRP Poll
Well, my Anejo purchases this year were at 2 local B&M's. One had the #49 and the #46 for $14 and $13 respectively. He only got 2 boxes and demand was very high (duh). He rationed out 2 sticks per customer, but was lenient and allowed me a couple more
... The other local guy sold the #50 and the #77's for $8 & $10 respectively. So, he was a bit closer to MSRP. He had a total of 4 boxes (2 of each) and had a 3 stick per customer rule for each size. I know both guys and they are solid, stand-up guys, who aren't in it to gouge customers. They did their best to make sure all the customers that wanted some of the good stuff, got some. My experience with each one was more than fair and I had no complaints paying around $2 over msrp for the hardest to find NC's, IMHO. ![]()

Re: 2006 Anejo MSRP Poll
I got 2 boxes of 77's: one at MSRP, one at $225.00
46 & 48's were both MSRP. WOAM,Signature,Classic, and BTL's were all about a dollar above MSRP. |

Re: 2006 Anejo MSRP Poll
I bought a couple of each size (per their limit) from Tampa Sweethearts. A few to try was really all I wanted.
Paid MSRP. I don't know that I would have put a lot of effort into tracking them down at B&M's, but picking up the phone and ordering from Darlene was pretty painless. ![]() |
