Morning smoke
I just started a new four day work week (Wednesdays off) and I am looking for a good morning cigar to enjoy on my day off. I would like something on the lighter side, but not so light I can’t taste it. I will be drinking coffee and of course need something that compliments coffee. As far as lighter bodied smokes go, I prefer CAO Gold and Bolivars(domestic). But I mostly smoke medium-full bodied cigars so I am clueless here. Plus I don’t want anything that I will have to wrestle with for over an hour. It may be my day off from work buy I am sure this misses will find plenty for me to do around the house.

Re: Morning smoke
My tastes also lean to the larger ring size and stronger smokes, mostly maduro wrappers. However, for early morning I have found the AF Gran Reserva to be decent (natural wrapper), and I used to have the occassional candela when I had the chance in the morning....I know that AF and Don Tomas both put out decent candela cigars, and if you've never tried one you may be pleasantly surprised at the contrast to the usual spiciness you enjoy at other times, and the light green cigar is quite mild but still can have taste.
Have fun experimenting...!

Re: Morning smoke
favorite morning smoke: Fuente Short Story... 1/2 hour max, great taste, lots of smoke and no time wasted correcting burn! BTW, goes great with coffee!

Re: Morning smoke
A nice light morning smoke to me would be a Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 Silver edition. It has a nice light Criollo 98 Wrapper and is just an easy cigar to smoke.

Re: Morning smoke
Actually, Kamikaiguy is right on with that recommendation. The Torano is a good early cigar.
BTW, Kamikaiguy.....I don't know if you noticed but I tried to reinforce your self-image in the 'Bananas' posting under the newbie forum....heh-heh! ![]()

Re: Morning smoke
I still smoke mild once in a while. Astral Beso 5 x 52 is probably the best of the regular Astral line. Macanudo Hampton Court in natural or maduro is a little tube packed corona & IMHO ain't a bad cigar. I still like a Baccarat petite corona once in a while. Ashton is a heck of a good mild cigar, if you've got a little extra cash to spend. La Aurora is a really nice Cameroon wrapped milder cigar. If you like em really mild try a Don Diego Corona Major tubo. Hell, I could spend all day thinking of good milder cigars.
Hope this is helpful. ![]()

I always have one in the morning at work, usually about 8:30 AM right after breakfast, with a nice cup of fresh roasted coffee. I actually prefer a powerhouse too. A few days ago I tried a mild Dominican and was bummed out...not enough power, so I lit up a BBF and the smile returned to my face ! If you would have talked to me a few years ago, I would have told you I never smoke in the AM, but now I'm much more likely to smoke before 9:00 AM than any other time of the day. Breakfast and coffee just seem to really compliment a " Great Cigar." |

Re: Morning smoke
Only once have I smoked a cigar before noon and that was while in Las Vegas. Cigars in the morning just don't appeal to me for some reason. I like a pre or post dinner cigar.
