Help! Need advice for a cigar website re-launch

Hello Cigar Lovers,

I really could use some advice here...I'm re-launching CigarOne.com and need to know what it is you most look for on an e-commerce Cigar website. We are Geneva based and sell only Cubans but we do have cigar accessories.

I sincerely appreciate any suggestions you might have.

Thank you!!

Emily

Here are a few comments I've already received:
Crisp pictures with exact measurements of each cigar
Tasting notes for each cigar
Strength of Cigar
Make your own Sample Boxes

For the member's section:
Exclusive discounts and special offers
Membership Rewards based on # of orders placed
Wish List
Option to enter your Birthday - so we can include extra gifts
Number of orders placed
Outline of previous orders

What I look for from any merchant I regularly buy from, pretty much what others have said so far, but I'll say these again.

--Competitive prices
--Predictable delivery times
--Authenticity and good quality in what's being offered
--Good & quick feedback on customer questions
--Breadth of selection
--Reliability, knowing to expect the same quality service time after time

Extras include:

--Monthly/weekly specials and occassional sales
--Availability of assortments or singles
--Breadth of retailer's knowledge

Re: Help! Need advice for a cigar website re-launch

some of the things on your site i already like.

some things that i feel need to be added:
-being able to see all the names and prices of a particular brand at once (but you need to add the sizes of the cigar to the table)
-a way to find cigars of the same size in one click. like when i'm looking at a Monte Especial #2, i would want to click and see ALL the other "Palma" sized cigars you have in stock. maybe i was looking for a particular size and would like to compare the different brands of what you have in stock. EDIT - i see you do actually have that. nice.
-box codes available (as poker stated).

although i've never ordered from there, it was the first online vendor i found on my own. i like the site, but compared to other sites, the few things i listed are the only things i feel are missing from the actual WEBSITE part of it.

most people referring to the "business" side, with prices, knowledge, customer service...

oh, the RARE & LIMITED area is nice, i like it, but some feel that you should add an "AGED" area, for cigars 4 or more years old.

hope it helps.

Re: Help! Need advice for a cigar website re-launch

You might consider having "aging vaults" for your more wealthy clients (I ain't one of em). You could charge a rental fee for those more affluent customers who might want to purchase boxes & store them with you for future consumption. It seems I've heard of this.

I guess it's not considered that much of a draw, but on my list, I tend to check vendors that post codes first, and more often; only wish they would keep them up to date : (

Re: Help! Need advice for a cigar website re-launch

Many sites have pictures of cigars. I think you should set yourself apart from the others by having photographs of cigars that have been smoked down an inch. I personally volunteer to help you prepare cigars for the photographs..

I think having user reviews similar to what Amazon or NewEgg has would be another way of getting people to come to your site first.

If I know the merchant & personally like them, then I will definately be a returning customer.
