Padron 1964 Anni. Exclusivo

I ordered a 5 pack of Padron 1964 Anni. Exclusivo from Smokeall.com.

I smoked on about 3 days after sitting in my humidor. It was just aweful. It was real stong and harsh. I don't mind the strength but the harshness was bad.

It was like the back of my mouth was burning and it was making me a little sick.

I know Padron does not age these after they roll them. Could this cigar be going through a sick stage. Could I need to let these sit a little bit before somking them.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Kamik,

I have had bad luck with these 5 pack specials , especially from JRs. I know you bought yours eleswhere but I don't trust them.

In every 5 pack most of them have been either tight draw or bad flavor.

I stay awaay from the 5 pack and spend the extra coin at a local shop.

Thanks for the advice on my post the other day.

Hope this helps,

Kid

Re: Padron 1964 Anni. Exclusivo

Wow! This is interesting, since I was quickly won over by the Padron 2000 and 3000's I have been enjoying......I didn't think there was such a thing as a bad Padron. I've gotta think that letting them rest in the humidor for a couple of months will bring the best out of them.

Frankly, I've always wondered why there is such inconsistency from some brands, since it would seem once you know how to roll a robusto, why would it be difficult to take that and create a great smoking Churchill or something? But then, I am still learning a lot about this new hobby, so WTF do I know?

Interesting input about the 5 packs, Kid....I would never have guessed the packaging vehicle would greatly impact the quality of what should be a good smoke.

Re: Padron 1964 Anni. Exclusivo

I have ordered quite a bit from smokeall, including 5 packs, and have been very impressed with both the quality of the smokes and the quality of the packing. Let the others rest for awhile and try again. Maybe the tobacco needs some age, maybe that was just an off stick.

I know from my own personal experience that cigars taste different to me at different times. Sometimes my actual experience with a cigar differs from what I had imagined it should be and I get a bad impression of the cigar, only to smoke one at a later time and really enjoy it! I have noticed a lot of inconsistencies in the regular Padron lines, and I have had a few bad anni's that I couldn't finish.

Of course, if every stick in the fiver sucks, ignore everything I just said and promptly send my reputation meter into negative territory!!

Re: Padron 1964 Anni. Exclusivo

Boys,

Here is my take on the 5 packs based on getting them in the past. I think when someone returns a box of cigars back to the retailer (JR for example) for bad draw or inconsistnecies...these cigars end up in the 5 packs.

Rather than go through the hassle of sending back to the factory and getting credits, they just pull them and repack into 5 packs. That is just my theroy, not a fact.

I could be wrong, but I had terrible experience with Bolivars, La Finca's, R & Js, and a few others. There were always a few and sometimes all the cigars in the 5 pack had issues and were not the same as "in store" or full box bought cigars.

but from reading some of the other posts from some of you guys.... have had good experiences with 5 packs.

My son works for drew estates, I will ask him what's up with the 5 packs.

Could definitely be the case with JR. I ordered from them pretty often when I first started buying cigars on the net, however I have since learned there are lots of better, cheaper places to go.

So far smokeall has delivered cigars on time and in excellent condition both by box and five pack. One big difference with smokeall is that they include a water pillow with each pack to keep the cigars from drying out during shipping.

Re: Padron 1964 Anni. Exclusivo

They Don't have cello on them when they ship them. But that might be why I have problems with some of my other smokes.

But Really!!!! I have ordered 5 packs from Smokeall.com before and they were all top quality. It was just this Padron. I am going to try again in a couple months. I think they are new from the factory because Smokeall.com had stock on all of the 5 packs now they are out on all except the torpedo naturals. So I am guessing that smokeall just got them from Padron. I will let them age and see.

Honestly, I've never had a bad Padrón, nor a Padrón that wasn't ready to smoke the second I bought it. Now, these are hand-made products -- occasionally you'll get a dud -- but one of the wonderful things about Padróns in general is their incredibly consistency.

Perhaps you were just unlucky.

Moki I think you are right. I have never had a bad Padron either. That is why I posted. I just don't understand why it was not that good. I am going to try another one tonight and let you all know.
