Like others have said, your regular doc will give you Xanax if you tell them what it's for.

Everyone keeps saying that you put on your iPod during takeoff. Ever since I can remember, you can't have any electronics on during takeoff or landing.

Anyway, be prepared to pay $$$ for smokes there. I paid $17 for a Montecristo Classic Tubo while I was in Vegas. I had to buy 7 of them too (for a wedding).

Re: Going to Vegas, first time on a plane. Help.

I'd stay away from prescription meds unless you can't handle flying without them. Alcohol, however, is always a good choice.

Prior to the new regs I always carried a strong rum and coke (mixed about 1/2 and 1/2) with me in a coke bottle and tried to kill the first 1/2 in the cab and finish the rest while waiting for my first flight. This was good enough, along with a little pregameing, to let me sail through the flights and sober up a good bit before landing. The last two times, however, I ended up buying 2 tiny Jack bottles in air at $5 each, gets a little expensive.

I've never had a problem with lighters at smaller airports (Aspen, Roanoke, and Lynchburg among others) where they inspect checked bags in front of you. I've always had them empty and only at Aspen did I even have any questions asked. Never had any trouble out of New Orleans either but I haven't tried at any larger airport. I wouldn't try out of Vegas.

I would suggest sitting by the window if it's your first time unless you get motion sickness. The view is the only perk of flying to me.

Re: Going to Vegas, first time on a plane. Help.

This is absolutely essential advice!

Helped me out tremendously! I could be talking out of my ass, but i think i'm more anxious than scared now...

I think i'll have a drink before. that jack & coke recommendation hit the spot. but probably not in the air.

I absolutely cant wait to see what its like there! its so exciting! to be there, not to fly....

I'll take a look into Smith & Wollensky. lord knows i love steak!

Is it ok to take pictures on the plane?

You'll be fine, just make sure you leave your knives, guns and grenades at home.

LOL, jk

I hate flying, I'm not afraid of flying, I just hate the trip, it's so boring and I always get motion sickness once we land. I just turn on my mp3 player and fall asleep. I'm not sure where you're from but it shouldn't take longer that the trip I have to take to go to Vegas. Hawaii people love vegas lol

Re: Going to Vegas, first time on a plane. Help.

I have been to vegas several times, Here's my 2 cent.

As far as the fight goes it's a lot smother than a rollercoaster. Before you get on figure out how to relax your self. As far as the alcohol goes the two places that you don't want to be drunk at is the airport and the casino.

Now for the cigars: Cigars in vegas are very expensive, bring with you what you plan on smoking there. Casa feunte is best for getting special cigars that you cant get any where else cheaper. As for me when I go to vegas I tend to bring with me cedar matches to light them.

Above all else enjoy your self there. There is so much to do there that it is impossiable to do everything that you would want to do In just one trip.
