I've refused to even try any Gurkha because of this.

I just ordered a box, I'll let you know how they taste just as soon as I can pay for them.

Wasn't there some Partagas line a few years ago that went for like $2,000 a box? Was it the Partagas 150 series?

I love Gurkha, but this one is just silly. I'm sure the guy who pays whatever for it will say...hey, not a bad cigar...uh oh, I can't get my tranny fixed in my car because I blew my wad on one cigar!

I'm sure they're a decent cigar... but $15,000 !! It just gets under my skin that a company has the grapes to charge this much. A whole bottle of Louis the 13th going into each box blah blah blah. Also I listened to a podcast of this interview with the founder on Jan 10. http://www.cigar.com/podcast/
15-20 year old company founded by an exporter/importer of watches...if you listen you'll see there isn't much passion or love of the business...just a business. But I could go on and on... (take a deep breath)

Re: His Majesty's Reserve dirt cheap at the devil?!

Kind of makes me think about these 3 guys i saw the other day at the Bar. I just finished my Oliva Maduro 'G' (not sure how it was...sinus infection..heh) and i see these three guys light up a huge Churchill sized cigar. These guys are the real macho type that think cigars make them look tougher (which i suppose they usually do) and there only reason to smoke one is because they saw a hard-assed Sargent in a bootcamp on TV had one. Anyways, my Inebriated friend is acquated with them i think and took a puff of their cigar. He said it was good, so i was wondering what it was and sent him back to go ask. "Dude, They said they bought it in Maimi for $80 [a stick], the guy said it was a Montecristo, i think cuban!"

Okay, first off, i don't think these guys even know that there are counterfit cubans, and of all places, i doubt Maimi has any place that would sell real cubans. Second of all, it wasn't even a Monte band. It was a RyJ band. Not even a Habano band! It looked just like the RyJ vinatage band with the red label and metalic marks. I just laughed to my self and shook my head. What a waste of money. But then again it was only $80. Thats cheap compared to those Gurhkas.

it's just a status thing.

Good. Lord. One box of cigars or, gosh, two years of college. Hmmm... decisions, decisions...

From what I understand these are just cognac infused smokes. Anejos are aged in cognac barrels and may be a better bet for the value.

Re: His Majesty's Reserve dirt cheap at the devil?!

Its all relative tho right. To you and me $14k for a box of smokes is a pretty penny, but do you think Tiger Woods would even miss it? There are certainly people out there buying these and at the end of the day isn't the only important thing that the BUYER enjoy them?

I personally can't imagine they amount of money that would have to be in my bank account to pop for something but if they can afford it and it makes them feel better so be it.
