I keep 2 digitals in the cooler along with the oasis, they are all within 2% of each other..the analogs are garbage...they are a good way to ruin good smokes

Re: Never Trust an Analog Hydrometer

The only analog hygrometer I have that is even lose, is the one that is mounted in the humidor my girlfriend bought me for Christmas, and it is 100% the same as both of my digital hygrometers that I checked/calibrated with a Boveda One-Step Calibration pack. But I think it is the exception to the rule, and I have a digital inside that I go by, it’s just cool that it works and I can see when I walk in the room where it’s at.

Re: Never Trust an Analog Hydrometer

I do not trust my analog hygrometer. I tried calibrating it using the salt test and was 10% off. Adjusting it with a screwdriver never got it to read any closer. I finally gave up and bought a digital hygrometer. It hasn’t given me any problems and is only 1% off using the salt test.

Re: Never Trust an Analog Hydrometer

I remember my old analog. My cigars were doing great at ~68% for like 2-3 months. Then I got suspicious after I smoked a couple of my cigars. When I tried pulling it off of the little vecro pad on the lid of my humidor, the thing just fell apart. Every little piece in that thing separated. A few days later when I went to throw something away, I saw it in the garbage can still reading 68%. Nice work Mr. Analog Hygrometer. I bought myself a digital and found my humidity was actually around 50-55%.

I'm still recovering from that.

Re: Never Trust an Analog Hydrometer

I have 2 different hygrometers that I put in wet towels. After an hour, it should've read 100%, so I just adjusted them to read correctly and when I put them back in the towel later, they read exactly 100%. Now, in the humidor they read about the same, at about 60-65% humidity. I just don't want to pay for a digi.

Re: Never Trust an Analog Hydrometer

Believe it or not, I only have 2 accurate hygrometers, 1 digital and 1 analog that came mounted in the front of my Thompson humidor! Dead accurate for almost 3 yrs!
