I think the "babe" was a guy who effed up some passes over on another board.

People here are incredibly generous ... but they're not stupid.

I just wish I took the time to unload my Thompsons on the "babe" rather than use them for insecticide.

Welcome dtrudOh!!

damnit (909) I panicked when I saw that thread up at the top again!!

Don't worry dtrudOh, you don't strike me as the same person.

Now since you are asking for advice let me start off by saying Thompson's probably isn't the best company to do business with. They aren't horrible by any means, but their name brand prices aren't competitive and they really push their house brand cigars on you.

One of the best things to do as a newbie on this or other cigar boards is to do a "newbie sampler" trade. Many established members are willing to put newbies together an assortment of what they consider to be good cigars and ship them to the newbie. In return the newbie will pick up a box of cigars or an accessory for the established member. One word of caution for you on doing this is that you must have in mind what you want to spend to do the trade. There are good guys/gals that smoke $10 - $15 cigars all day and will ask you to order them a $300 box of cigars and send you $300 - $400 of cigars in return (the newbie always makes out value wise). The problem IMO is that newbies are better served in finding out what they like by getting more less expensive cigars than super premiums.

When you are getting ready to do a trade make sure its with someone who has been on the board a while and has a big post count. I would offer to help you out, but I haven't been around here but a few months.

You can also just ask people to make lists, and specify what you want to spend. Here's a few I would recommend as good cigars I like by price. (the prices are what you would pay per stick by the box, count on them being 25-30% higher retail.)

$1 La Veja Habana Fumas, Bolivar Fuerte Bolvar Petit Maduro
$2 Sancho Panza Double Maduro Quixote, Flor de Oliva Maduro
$3 Padron 2000 Maduro, Flor de Oliva Grand Cameroon Belicoso
$4 Arturo Fuente Hemmingway Short Story, Punch Gran Puro Rancho
$5 CAO anything

Again, welcome you can learn a lot here
