Re: Positive Cigar ID Contest
Came home from work to find the box waiting for me. I got 4 as well, and will get some macro shots up hopefully tonight. Thanks again, jesto!
P.S. Looks like I got the same 4 cigars. I'd say #2 is a little fatter than a 50 ring gauge, though. Looks more like 56ish. And the #4, the PC, smells amazingly good. |

Re: Positive Cigar ID Contest
Had the #4 yesterday night. This one was a petit corona which had a wrapper that I thought was natural, but had a little bit of reddish to it as well. Construction was excellent - I noticed the triple cap and minimal veins. Prelight draw was a little bit tight even for a cigar of that size, but a little bit of gentle squeezing and rolling opened it up to just about perfect. The prelight taste promised a spicy cigar.
Initial tastes were a lot harsher than I'm used to - this was definitely a stronger cigar than my usual ones. Tobacco and pepper were about the only thing I tasted on the first few draws, but after giving it a little time to settle down it started to get interesting. Throughout the entire flawless burn I got tons of spiciness, with underlying layers of wood and slight sweetness. After steady mellowing it was starting to taste a little harsh again at a little past the halfway mark(ashed once already, smoking outside in the cold seems to make it more brittle), so I took a last puff and put it down. I liked it, but I think it was a cigar that rides too close on the edge of being harsh for where my tastes currently stand(time to work up the cigar tolerance). I haven't tried a Tatuaje although that guess sounds good based upon characteristics, so I'm going to have to make an unlikely choice and say this was a Partagas Short. That's the only other PC I've had that was close to this flavor and relative intensity. Summary: Great appearance & construction, tasty, but a little stronger than I prefer. 8/10. |

Re: Positive Cigar ID Contest
I had cigar #1 tonight.
It had a nice appearance and construction, pleasant aroma, and a triple cap. Upon lighting, I was rewarded with a nice, mellow taste with a slightly tight draw that stayed consistent through the whole cigar. No bitterness here, just smooth and mellow. For some reason, the nice construction, triple cap, and good taste make me wanna label this a Pepin creation of some sort. Outside of that, I'm at a loss. I'd give this cigar a 6/10, only because of how mellow it was. I would definitely smoke it again though.

Nice Reviews!
One too strong, and one too mellow. I can't wait to read the rest. I'll send a PM to everyone with the awnsers to your guesses. Remember everyone gets 3 cracks. I'll post a picture of the sticks today, and open that portion of the contest up. I just wanted you all to get the first look. I hope everyone is enjoying themselves.
