Man, looks like I gotta hurry up and start smokin'. My throat is still sore and the tastebuds are still jacked up, so my guesses will probably be way off.

Re: Positive Cigar ID Contest
I just smoked cigar #2 last night. I guess the tastebuds are back, as I really enjoyed this cigar. It started out very strong with a nice coffee-like taste that I enjoy in a cigar. It then mellowed out into a more rich flavor, almost like chocolate. I really enjoyed this smoke. Construction was nice and the burn was relatively even.
I'm gonna guess a Partagas Black for this one.

Re: Positive Cigar ID Contest
I just finished cigar #3 a little while ago. Although it wasn't bad, there was nothing that really stood out about it. It started off kind of strong and a little spicey, but then mellowed off into a pretty mild taste. It did produce a lot of smoke though. I'm gonna guess a Sancho Panza Double Maduro on this one as well. It's very similar to those that I've had in the past.

Ray - you don't have to smoke them all in 1 day! LOL!
I hope you are feeling better. Rob - is #1 a No Clue Maduro or a No F'n Idea Natural? I can't wait to tell you guys the answers. It's killing me.

Re: Positive Cigar ID Contest
Heh, I had the day off, so it didn't hurt anything. I am better, except it still feels like I have some big hole in the back of my throat.

Re: Positive Cigar ID Contest
I just finished off cigar #4. This is the only one of the bunch that I didn't like. It was way too mild for me. I have no idea what it could've been. Not anything I've had in a while I know that.
I'm interested to know what we smoked. 1 was pretty damn good, 2 was pretty good, 3 was decent, and 4 was just something to puff on. I'm definitely curious as to what #1 was. I'd smoke some more of those without question.

Re: Positive Cigar ID Contest
I want to thank you all for playing along. I will begin revealing the cigars starting Friday, and every other day I'll name the next one. You all guessed at least once, so I'll tally up the scores as we go.
If you want to guess again - go ahead. Since you all let me know what you think about the cigars - I'll give you my impression. My younger brother turned me on to these 4 - by making me do a un-banded taste test similar to the one I put you 3 through. I have had the first 3 in my humi for about a year, and #4 for about 3 months. #1 - This cigar had a great look and smell to it. It started and finished smoothly, with hints of nuts and cream. While the flavor never changed - I did enjoy it throughout. #2 - I think this is the best looking of the 4. I enjoyed the oily and dark wrapper. (I love darker cigars) This started with a slight pepper taste, and transitioned into a mixture of sweetness, leather and cedar. It had an easy draw with tons of smoke - but burned rather unevenly. I had to work at it with a torch lighter - just to keep it in line. However the burn problems did not keep me from enjoying this stick. #3 - Another dark beauty. I did notice minor flaws in the construction, but nothing to be alarmed over. It too began with a pepper flavor, but calmed down nicely after I dropped the first inch of ash. The flavor mellowed to a sweetness, which I attribute to the dark wrapper. It ended up being milder than I thought it would be. #4 - This small stick smelled strong, and looked decent. I almost threw it away during the first inch, as it hit me hard with pepper or some chemical taste I couldn't quite place. However, I stuck it out and was rewarded. The flavor changed and became a mixture of nuts and licorice, and then changed again and was nutty and creamy to the nub. - I am not a huge fan of small sticks - but this one changed my perception quite a bit. My favorites: 4 - 1 - 2 -3 Until tomorrow!!!

Re: Positive Cigar ID Contest
I'm going to stick with my guesses, way off they may be, simply because I don't have any other guesses that would be based upon actual experience. Thanks again for holding this contest, it was a great time! I'd like to reciprocate in the future as soon as I figure out 4 cigars that are worthy of sharing and don't have completely obvious flavor profiles

Re: Positive Cigar ID Contest
Drum roll pleae!!!!
The #1 cigar: Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 (Euro) I thought this one might throw you all off - since it is the Euro version. It has a similar flavor to the regular RP Vintage - but a lighter wrapper, and a somewhat milder smoke. Again my brother turned me on to these. Since he has less funds for this hobby - he is forced to look for bargains. I gave him some "real" RP's and he fooled me with these. They are about $3 per stick from CI. An everyday 'gar to be proud of. I'll put #2 up Tuesday.

Re: Positive Cigar ID Contest
Hah, the best part is that I bought a 5'er of those exact cigars and promptly stashed them in the bottom of my tupperdor. I'll have to smoke one today.
