Re: Is There Any Hope - Please Advise - Water Damage

UPDATE:

I ended up losing about 11 of my favorite Padilla Miami 8/11 Churchills - Go figure, as these are my favorite NC. I also lost some cheap Nestors.

I let the sticks dry for about 4-5 hours on towels in the dry AZ humidity. This seemed to let the wrapper dry completely. I then put them back into two coolers without stacking them and gave them room to breathe.

Just yesterday I reorganized everything into the 6 cedar trays and some empty boxes and everything is now in one cooler. The humidity stands at 65%-67%.

The sticks that were the worst are wrinkled and stained. The only cigars I have smoked so far that sustained damage are as follows:

Pepin JJ Serie Sublime - Tasted normal with a small burn problem.
SLR Lonsdale(cuba) - Tasted very nice with a small burn problem.
Partagas Lusitania(cuba) - Ahhhhhh a very nice smooth smoke - Burned perfect.

In the very near future I will be smoking the worst of the damaged cigars as I can't stand the sight of them. I think the flavors will continue to be fine, but I expect to not always get that razor sharp burn I've come to expect on some smokes.

Thanks everyone for your concern.

I also want to thank Montecristo#2 for the care package. Please bump him if you like. He is a truly generous gorilla.

Kevin - glad to hear the collection is recovering with minimal loss (sucks to hear about the Padilla Miami's). Look on the bright side, it could have been a lot worse.

Hopefully the care package will tied you over while your collection recovers.

I am truly sorry the Miamis took it in the shorts. Knowing that it could have been much worse might help to ease the pain, but only a little, I should think.

I cringed when I saw your photos, and felt like it was my own sticks that got hit.

Wow, came across this thread on a search I was doing. It has been a year so I hope I am not reopening an ugly wound!

Looks like it turned out a little better than it looked like it would when I saw the first pics.

My stomach actually got a little jumpy when I saw the pics. Terrifying.

Glad to hear things kinda worked out. I'm not gonna lie, those pictures were very painful to look at.
