Club Stogie and the Tiki Hut sponsored poker tourny

Here at Camp Phoenix one of the MWR (Morale, Welfare and Recreation) activities has been an ongoing poker tournament. With the generosity of Club Stogie donating to the Tiki Hut, I thought it would be a great idea to sponsor one of the poker events.

Prizes went to the top 12 finishers and included cigars, cutters, lighters, humidifiers and Xbox games from EA sports, all items donated by members of Club Stogie. The event was advertised on the bulletin boards and was well received with more than 80 players. It is a 14 tournament series based on points with the championship game on 28 April 07. There is no charge to play and anyone can play including civilians. The top 30 points leaders will play in the championship.

Everyone that showed up received a dominican 'signature la habana II'. There was no smoking allowed in the dining facility, but many of us enjoyed chewing on the stick and smoking it afterwards. There is also a website (blog) that has been set up to track the results. http://the-poker-force.blogspot.com/I dont think it has been updated recently, but I expect it be soon. You can go back and see the current standings and pictures of past winners. (Edwin won tourney # 6 and is currently in 3rd place overall).

It is a fun break from the realities of the place that we are in and thanks to all of you, we were able to share the passions of the 'gar' with more of our troops serving in Afghanistan.

Now that is some great Texas hold'em pics. Sounds like a great time. Hard part in the States is having to watch all the poker reruns. Really appreciate the pics and the job you do.
