Spanish Rosado...mmmmm

OK, I thought I was almost exclusively a maduro guy now, but I just happened to try a couple of the Partagas Rosado sticks and I really like them. True, they are more mild than what I am used to, but they taste very smooth and they look so $%!!^ good!

Does anyone have any guidance on other Rosados I could try? I am going back to get a box of the Partagas, but am always looking for a good comparison.....

Interested in your $0.02 on this topic..........

I have to agree with you here, they are a great smoke. I smoked one on the golf course, and went back to my local shop to buy a few more the next day.

If you want something a bit more full-bodied, try the Partagas Black. I tried one a few weeks ago, and was quite impressed. Don't believe what you may have read about them being harsh. They are most certainly not. Definitely a good pick, if you ask me.

Perdomo has some nice ones, & Garo Habano has the Symphonie line that, with a little humidor time, turns into one heck of a nice cigar. I think you can find the Garo's at CI, & sometimes they have em on C-bid.

Re: Spanish Rosado...mmmmm

Thanks for the input, guys........i just finished another one while watching the golf channel recap of the 2000 PGA Open with my wireless headphones on (no cigars in my house!) and damn it if it wasn't a great smoke but again burned unevenly on the last 1/3. There always seems to be a 1/2 inch burning hotter on one side for that last portion. It doesn't affect the flavor of course, and the smoke still plumes, so I don't get too concerned, but thinking that it was the way i was cutting or something, i have tried different snipping methods to no avail. I have not experienced an uneven burn like this so consistently in any other cigar.

However, that little annoyance will not prevent me from picking up a box next time i'm at the LCS.

BTW, Uniputt...I have tried the P Blacks and they are also another one I'm going to box on next time i'm in the shop...very good and a little bolder too.

Re: Spanish Rosado...mmmmm

Kscotty. The Rosado wrapper is unique to the Partagas. About a year ago I set out to look for other Rosado wrappers that taste similar to the Partagas. Man I still have not found one. This stick is truely unique.

There are a lot of other Rosado Wrappers that I like though. Perdomo used to make some nice rosado's. However within the last year they have changed their line and no longer have that many rosado's. They still have the Perdomo Moments and the Cuban Parejo line in a rosado wrapper. The flavor of their Rosado is nothing like the Partagas however.

As usual, Dwayne rides in at the end and adds a huge amount of valuable insight! thanks for the input..you may have saved me a lot of time in an otherwise fruitless search.....off to the LCS to purchase a couple of Partagas boxes!

By the way Dwayne, are those 4 banana bunches in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

Re: Spanish Rosado...mmmmm

Scotty those are 4 bannanas worth of happyness to see you in my pocket.

I am glad I could help in your search. I got my first PSR (Partagas Spanish Rosado) as a promotion. General Cigar was giving samples away for the release of the new PSR's. I remember smoking it and I was amazed at the flavor. I since then searched high and low for something similar. Never found it. However I did have a great time trying a bunch of different cigars. So I would say try all od the Rosados that you can.

A good rosado is the Romeo and Juliet Anniversario line. It look almost maduro but it not it's rosado. It has a black Label. It is real good.

Re: Spanish Rosado...mmmmm

OK, K-man....on your word I will try RyJ but my experience w/them has been disappointing...tight draw on the 3 different ones I tried to-date, and I hate working that hard for smoke to plume.......thanks again.

You should fly out to our AZ herf on the 28th this month...
