What I find more shocking is the fact that you still have a wifey.

I'm right there with ya...this is my first month in Afghanistan, and my first month ordering by the box. Let's just say I'm starting out strong with a couple of $500 purchases to 'stock up' until the next round of orders (which probably won't be too far in the future).

It's easy to get out of control with all the excitement and fellow addicts here talking up cigars every day.

There is an easy control mechanism on cigar buying. Just refuse to buy a larger humi, coolers etc. When you run out of room... you're done.

Wish I had thought of it sooner.

At the risk of being a party pooper let me give a plug for self control! I know that since this is CS and we all love our smokes it is fun to talk about maxing out our credit cards and hiding our purchases from our wives and I confess my own actions in these ways. But just for the guy who can't buy lots of cigars and still pay all the bills let me say "it's ok to say no, to smoke less often, and maintain a budget!" Sometimes when I smoke less often I enjoy each cigar more!

Again, I am not trying to be the wet blanket but just a voice in the wilderness with some reason (hopefully) to it!

PS for the sake of full disclosure I am hoping to lose a bid on Cbid...you know what I am talking about!

Re: whoa nellie, $400/month on cigars?

I noticed another members signature line and it summed it up perfectly for me.

"The luxury of cigars is not that I can afford them, it is the time devoted to smoking one."

I live a good life and affording them isn't an issue. Recently I can only find time to smoke less than once a week. "Time" is a luxury I haven't found away to get more of.

please tell us what you do that i might afford more.

i kid, i kid...i realize that to be able to afford more doesn't necessarily mean you have an equal amount of time to smoke more.

Hey, she's a good kid. She even lets me smoke in the house. Our 18th anni is coming up in June. The episode mentioned was unique, and I have not begun to approach that level of spending since then.

What can I say? She adores me.
