whoa nellie, $400/month on cigars?

hello world,

i just did a little math and found that, thus far, in 2007, for my first four months of being a humidor-bearer, i've spent just about $1700 on cigars/cigar accessories.

please congratulate me.

and till death do us part.

Re: whoa nellie, $400/month on cigars?

Ah, the memories that confession brings to mind!

Back when I first started with cigars, I went kinda nuts. Bought a lot of cigars, and of course, I needed something to keep them in, right? So I ended up with 5 humidors....... All full and more than full. Ziplock bags make great temporary storage. I didn't keep track of what I spent, but my wife did, on the Q. T.

We were discussing this just last month, in fact, and I mentioned that I figured I'd spend a bunch of moolah, but had no clue as to what, exactly, I had spent. She calmly informed me (grinning as she said it) that she had kept track, and that in the first six months of my new "mania" (as she called it), I had managed to spend, in round numbers, $6,000.00!!! I kinda crapped down both legs when she said that! Well, my income from tax work was very good that year, but still, Holy Moly, Batman!!!

I have not repeated that performance since then. I still have three of the humidors (two are empty, however), and get a box of sticks once in a while, but usually settle for 5-ers, samplers and singles. But I keep seeing things that look just so darned good.......

Re: whoa nellie, $400/month on cigars?

If you're filling up a humidor, that's not too bad. Not bad at all.

The problem arrives when you keep up the fevered acquisition pace after you fill the darn thing up.

Congrats, Peter

You're not alone, my friend. Those great deals can really kill you, they'll add up quickly. Not to mention if you are into gerbils......

WHOA, tiger....$6k?! that blows me out of the water. :

i've got a 50-ct to my name....and a big ol AF 2-way humidipak ziplock baggie thingie. as of today, i've got somewhere around 65 cigars in my collection and i smoke about once....maybe twice a week.

accessories?
- humidor (50 ct)
- ST Dupont XTEND (matte black)
- Colibri Firebird (i hate this lighter)
- 1/2 lbs. BEADS!
- Xikar Cutter
- Palio Cutter
- Punch Cutter

but now that the humi is full and i've got some overflow, it's a matter LE RESISTANCE~

That is a big number. Do yourself a favor and forget how to do math. Makes it easier to buy more smokes!!

$1700 and you only have a 50ct? You need a bigger humi or atleast a coolerdor..or two
