Smile Indian Tobac Confusion

I am slightly confused about something. I'm not complaining but thought I would throw this question out into the jungle.

I have a great tobaconist who already knows me and my tastes, in other words they always seem to recomend the right singles for me to try.

In any case, from a couple years back they recomended the Fire by Indian Tabac Robusto Maduro and I loved them. Unfortunately they stoped carying them so I had to find them elsewhere.

I bid and won on a bundle from cb (which was also my second order since I found out about them here) In any case, the Fire's I recieved are fantastic but they are so much sweeter and smoother that I'm wondering why the big difference? Did the blend change or something? I absolutely love these even more than the ones I remember but why the change

What do you guys think/know?

Rob

I'm smoking one of these right now and it is downright creamy and perfect. Man am I confused. Maybe these were aged a bit? I can't figure this out.

I remember reading somewhere that Rocky Patel was going to be overhauling the Indian Tabac line. That may have something to do with it but I am not sure. Or maybe CI's stock is better cared for. Good luck. I have some of the corojos, I am going to have to try the maduros though cause I tend to be a maduro lover.

This can be attributed to several things....mainly that the cigars may have aged, and your palate might be different than two years ago.

That's my best guess.

Re: Indian Tobac Confusion

Well if Rocky Patel did change things around then I must say bravo because these are trully excelent. If the consistancy remains from here on out I'll be buying a couple of boxes of these.

BTW, I'm pretty much a devoted Maduro lover. Just something about that taste and body sucked me in a long time ago.

SaltyMcGee, it's possible that my pallette has changed but the difference in taste between the two different Fire's is dramatic. I also considered that maybe these have a bit more age on them.

I gotta say they are fantastic.

Too bad they changed for you, but at least you love the (new?) ones you bought! I'll have to try a few sometime.

In all honesty the "change" was so positive that I don't miss the old ones. I'd recomend these to anyone. They are not as full bodied as they use to be but they are so tasty that it doesn't matter.

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Indian Tobac Confusion

is there any chance that the one your tobacconist was giving you were on the dry side? I had my first Fire by IT about 6 months ago, gifted by a buddy, and I didn't care for it. He keeps his at 60%. He kept raving how he likes them so I went and bought my own from CBid and have been keeping thm on hand ever since.
Now I got my buddy to up his humidity a bit and he was amazed at the difference.

These are good, I'd describe them as creamy/caramelly in flavor and very smooth with no harshness. I had one with my coffee this morning and they went together quite well.

Well there is always a chance but these guys really know their stuff. I mean if the guy working in the store is smoking a cigar always than it would seem that he knows at least a little something about them.

Like I said, I'm comparing what I got from cbid with some cigars I smoked about 2 years ago but even so the difference is dramatic. I'd like to add that I keep a journal of all the cigars I try so that I can look back and see if I liked something or not and the description I wrote back then is completely different from what I would write today. Your right though, how dry a cigar is will change the way it smokes and tastes.

That's exactly the way I would describe them as well. This will be a strange comparison but I would almost compare them to a eclair you buy in a good bakery. Not too sweet but very creamy and easy on the pallette.

I know that some people don't like this kind of cigar but I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. With them not being too expensive on cb I can totally see this being my everyday cigar. I will continue to smoke and love the Fonseca Maduros as well as many others but right now I'm excited about the Fire.

Well, in all honesty they are not that expensive if you buy them online. I wouldn't go over $20 on cbid for a bundle of 15 because you can buy them for around $25 anywhere else.
