Morning smoke revisited

I usually get up significantly before I have to leave for work. I like to sit and enjoy my coffee and have some devotional reading/prayer time before rushing out the door. It is an ideal time to have a cigar as well since the rest of the family is asleep, I have no other responsibilities, etc.

The problem has been that, since my taste buds are still asleep, I have been unable to actually enjoy the taste. I was going for the mild morning smoke and it just couldn't compete with the taste of dead taste buds. I ended up throwing each stick out well before the half way mark.

So this morning I decided to go a different route, not as mild. I chose a 5 Vegas classic because:

a. it is not too expensive so I won't feel bad if it is another failed attempt
2. it is not mild but not strong (I guess that is called medium)
c. it has a slightly sweet taste IMO

Bottom line: it worked out quite well! The sweetness of the cigar balanced the sugar-less coffee well and the taste was...well, good! Next time I think stronger coffee well compliment even better.

Morning will never be my main smoke time. Maybe once or twice a month. But I am glad to know that I have a stick that works well in that time slot!

And that is my

Re: Morning smoke revisited

I always smoke a "full" stick when I smoke in the morning. I like a good rich maduro with a strong coffee. I also have problems tasting something too mild in the morning. Thats my .

Re: Morning smoke revisited

A good Maduro starts my morning, something real smooth, like an Ashton Maduro or a Perdomo ESV maduro...around lunchtime, I will follow it up with a more flavorful/mild smoke...today was a Perdomo ESV on my way to work followed up with a Romeo y Juliet Short Churchill...my last one unfortunately...

Re: Morning smoke revisited

Perdomo Lot 23 is all time favorite morning smoke. The strong coffee and caramel flavor is pretty hard to beat and the price point makes it all that much better. Give it a try!
