Why is it that anytime a mismanaged state needs to raise some money,They seem to target those of us with "bad" habits.So much for the small business owner.

I recall reading somewhere a California legislator's lament that tobacco taxes help pay for so much, then with smoking bans discouraging people from smoking, they lose a big chunk of that income (and if I recall, he was a supporter of both the taxes and ban, so screw 'im). So, I assume MI won't be passing any statewide smoking bans anytime soon... there's your silver lining.

I know Indiana has a proposal for increasing tobacco taxes, but isn't this what cbid is for? No tax!!!

On a more serious note, this does suck, they just want to raise taxes instead of cutting the budget, morons. There are bans starting to take place, Lenanwee County here just passed a county wide smoking ban in all work places, except for bars and resturants.

You think that's bad, they're talking of raising property tax rates 24% here in Indiana this year and hitting us with another 10+% next year. In 2 years time, they'll need that $1k a year more than I do.

Yeah, my parents aren't too happy with that. I miss living in Indiana still though, the gun laws are better.
