Weird First Experience

Ok, so for new years this year me and a friend decided to try out cigars. We each got a romeo y juleita #1, it was an enjoyable smoke, right up until the end. Having never smoked anything before, we both got a little lightheaded. I actually threw up a bit, and felt kinda crappy for the rest of the night. It was from a convenience store, but it was a "smoke and variety" and was properly humidified and everything, so dry/old is a possibility, but I think it was something else, because it tasted fine. Do we just need to get used to cigars? Should we get something milder?

Re: Weird First Experience

Have something sweet like a soda, not diet. The sugar will counteract the nicotine.

Re: Weird First Experience

You got sick from all the nicotine. Next time try eating something before you smoke a cigar. Also drink a soda, preferably a 7up or Sprite. This adice was handed down from a fellow LLG who is know around here as TheMan.

Sorry you had such a bad first experience. But keep on trucking. Try going to a local cigar shop and asking questions. Like what is more mild then a RyJ#1. More then likely he/she will be more then willing to help.

Good luck and welcome

Re: Weird First Experience

Red wine...I always drink red wine or a "Seven and Seven" with a cigar. Also start with shorter cigars.

Nice Khat I didnt know that. You might have Herfd them a little fast as well. Taking your time gives to old body a chance to absorb without overload. If you had previously smoked cigs that can also contribute as you inhale a little and that can be bad the first few times out.

Don't give up.

They tend to get concentrated at the end don't they. Sometimes if I find it getting too overpowering I toss it. Have to know when to hold em and fold em.

Re: Weird First Experience

Great advice here. Let me round it up for you, eat before smoking, get a milder cigar, acompany the cigar with a drink that's got a good glucose (sugar) concentration, keep on smoking. Eventually you'll build up some resistance to it. Good luck!

Re: Weird First Experience

I had a friend who threw up when we were younger from crappy cigars. It happens more than you'd think with people who aren't used to the punch that they pack. Try, try again.
