i have a seperate humidor for all my sticks that are dont touch unless very special occasion. But i think their is a diffrence between something that is rare, vs something that is expensive IE: VSG's and PAM's are at my B&M all day long, i smoke them whenever and know that i can pick up another whenever as long as i have the money, but things like the Anejo 77, 40th PAM, 2005 Opus-x, and some of my cc's are things that are rare that I'm saving for a special occasion, which could be just a herf

I definitely understand that. If I only have one of something, it usually (not always) lasts a bit longer before I smoke it.

That being said, I tried the seperate humidor for the good stuff trick, and my other humidor would get ignored.

It's all relative I guess, I am a believer of special occasion smokes but only in the sense that each night that I am camping and sitting in front of a fire is a special occasion. It's all about dedicated relaxation time!

Very nice! I like that a lot.

Anyway, thanks to you S.H.I.T.ers, Thursday should be a holiday for me now!

If I die without smoking all of my best cigars, I'm going to kill myself.

My ONLY rule is to not smoke them too young, so as to waste them. I'm not an aging fanatic, but I
m not going to fire up my 06 RE's tonight, either.

Re: Saving your best, or good cigars for special occasions? (like Thursday)

I used to want to save all the good cigars for special occasions but I have changed lately. I am pretty much smoking whatever I want whenever I want there are a couple sticks in the humi that I am waiting to see how they change with age like the opus and anejo but I still smoke some of them fresh. I have not yet smoked a Litto Gomez but am looking forward to trying one out. I say anytime you smoke it should be a special occasion.

Like I just said in another thread, they're only cigars after all ... and you never know what tomorrow brings. That said, there are some that I have set aside for aging purposes and some for upcoming special occasions (Davi when I move in July) -- but I don't simply avoid great cigars because they're great. Every day is a day to celebrate, after all.

Catfish gifted me a Forbidden X that I just salivate over it every time I pass my humidor and look through the glass. If MMH-2 happens the weekend of Sept 21 (my b-day and I expect every one of you monkeys out there!), I will cherish burning down that particular FX!

Re: Saving your best, or good cigars for special occasions? (like Thursday)

Not to get religious here but after all I went to Catholic school for most of my formal education... This thread brings to mind the mind the story of Jesus and the wedding feast. You know the changing of the water to wine one. When the wine ran out and the party was still going on Jesus arrived and did his "thing". As the story goes He changed the water to wine. Upon tasting this "new" wine the wedding party queried why the host had saved the best wine for later...

My point being that in some cultures it is tradition to partake in the very best you have to celebrate the day.

It may depend on what you mean by "good stuff," but I only smoke sticks I think are fine! I save my better sticks for special occasions, but I really only smoke sticks I know I will enjoy.
