Saving your best, or good cigars for special occasions? (like Thursday)

How many of you guys save good cigars ($10+ or whatever price range) for a special occasion?

Reason I ask, I've been pretty much exclusively smoking my good cigars recently. For instance, last Thursday I had a Padilla Miami and an Anejo 50.

I have the intention of smoking a cheaper stick, but a nice one just calls out my name when I open the humidor. I was looking over my sticks two nights ago and saw the LG small batch that snowy sent me a couple months ago and I haven't been able to get it off my mind since. I'm afraid for it tonight, as I think it's going to perish.

Everyday is a special occasion. Live like that and you'll be happier. So right now I only try to buy the smokes that I think are the best of the best, the only exception is that I bought 4 boxes of H Uppman and Partagas for herfing and trading.

I just got a couple of five packs of Padilla Miama for $28 apiece, I think its going to be hard to wait for the freezing/reconditioning process to complete.

My definition of a special occassion is Sunday. After church I will usually break out one of my "Sunday cigars" and enjoy it. The other days is my "everyday cigar" which I also enjoy.

I'm not smoking my X's because I hear they are much better with age, so I won't be waking those for at least 12 months and prolly closer to 18 months.

You should try one fresh! I like them fresh and I'll find out in a year if I like them aged as well. It'd be a shame if you would have liked them fresh but never got the chance to try it.

Sometimes I save sticks till they are ready or I am ready to smoke them. Today, for example, I had a Diamond Crown Maximus Double Corona for breakfast. I guess because it was Thursday and I was "hungry" for one.

Re: Saving your best, or good cigars for special occasions? (like Thursday)

I do save a lot of my nicer smokes for that 'special occasion'... I'm not sure why really? Lately I've been fighting against it by making sure I pull some of my better sticks out of the humi if I'm smoking with friends or sharing a night on the balcony with my girlfriend.

I guess it comes down to the fact that I only have one of most of my best cigars... If I had a humi full of PAMs, Pepins, Opus, Anejos, etc I doubt I'd have a problem enjoying them more often.

If I'm riding the tractor mowing the lawn, it's typically a Tampa Sweetheart.
If I'm hoisting a few at the tavern with my friends it may be a step up.
But... if I have the time to sit and fully enjoy a smoke it's going to be a good one.
One only gets so many trips around the sun.

Its also full bodied and I'm just working up into that range. I'm only 15 sticks into the hobby so I don't want to waste a great stick.

I used to do that and only save the best ones for big days. However, over time I usually just saved my money for the good stuff. Now I dont care, I could be dead tomorrow and I would have wasted my time and money. So, now I just oepn the cooler and pick the best stick for the moment, expensive or inexpensive.

More and more I subscribed to the practice of letting the contents of the humidor speak to me. This is all predicated on a "well stocked" humidor...whatever that is.
