At my job, I'd need a couple locks.

I have one on my desk. I am an Insurance Agent.

I always offer one to certain client or company reps when they come in.

Re: Is it professional to have a small humidor on your desk at work?

If the place you work doesn't allow a good looking wooden box to sit on your desk, then would you really want to work there anyway? I work at client sites and don't really trust humi on my desk. I usually bring along my OB with a few in it on days I know we're stepping out for lunch or something.

I hate smelling like cigar smoke at work...thats more of a concern for me than actually having a humi on my desk.

I have the small Savoy Glass top on my desk (also the server room so I don't have to worry about the temp). Oh yeah, it's a small family owned business...

I once had a boss who had to keep his humidor at work. He didn't want his wife to find out that he smoked cigars. Kinda funny.....

I keep one on a side table in my office. I've received nothing but positive comments on it.

I also keep a small pipe rack with a few pipes next to it.

I have one at my desk. I work with contractors and city officials all day, so they come in handy to hand out. Plus it adds a heir of culture to an otherwise unrully desk. God knows we Ozark-Americans can use some culture.

Re: Is it professional to have a small humidor on your desk at work?

As long as it is a nice humdor and looks classy I doubt anyone would have an issue with it. I see people all the time who leave their cigarette packs laying on their desk next to their lighter in many offices.

Re: Is it professional to have a small humidor on your desk at work?

I may not be a working man but in the past few jobs I've had, all my employers didn't really care what you did as long as you got the job done. On the other hand, it probably all varies from boss to boss. I'd say go for it. Worst case scenario? Your boss tells you to take it home, or...your fellow employees steal it, that would be bad.

Re: Is it professional to have a small humidor on your desk at work?

I have a box on my desk tha could be a humidor and I've had it on my desk at various jobs. Light one up at your desk is unprofessional, having a humi at your desk is not.

Unless it says something like "%*^*&% your mom"......

Not only do I keep a humi in my office, but I keep an extra shirt, light jacket, and a baseball cap there strictly for smoking at lunch. That way I don't smell strongly of smoke for afternoon meetings and still manage to enjoy a miday cigar.
