I have a small humi that I keep on my desk at work.. but its mainly filled with smokes that I gift out to my buddies and co-workers. I'm not allowed to smoke at work but its always nice to have some on hand just in case.

Plus you're co-workers will love you

As a low level office drudge, my opinion is that a humi on your desk would look a bit pretentious if you weren’t the boss or the owner of the business. I carry my lunchtime smoking supplies in an otterbox in my backpack.

Re: Is it professional to have a small humidor on your desk at work?

In many places, it is no longer legal to smoke in any indoor business, or where anyone is employed. (the Red State of Minnesota, in about 4 months as well as many others)
If opportunity allows, and it is legal (read: no sumbitch will snitch you out to the federales), and you trust the cleaning staff or other reprobates not to abscond with your collection of bound burning leaves. (not to mention even if it is legal, for some uptight, needs a hobby, holier than thou piece of dung reports your evil smoking to any supervisor, owner or other HR related person and gets you axed because of your danger to others)
Yeah, it's great!!!

(did I get off on a slight rant?)

God I love working for ME!!!

Not very professional to have a little desktop....

Wall units however...

Seriously, in a normal company I'd say no way. There is little upside and large potential downside.

And here I was pimping you for a good deal on belly lint. Am I the only gorilla that has to swallow 14 gallons of saliva when I see a pic of that?

Re: Is it professional to have a small humidor on your desk at work?

I can't think of a humi in the office as "unprofessional" (unless you work for the American Lung Association) but I think it's impractical if you can't smoke at your desk (which is practically everybody nowadays). When I wanted to bring cigars to work, I took a travel humi and brought it home at night.

I keep one on my credenza. Small family business. Can't smoke inside but, outside is just fine with me. Always gives me a little peace in the afternoon's.

I was doing asset inventory at a contractor's main office last week, and I remember seeing a small humidor on a shelf in one of the offices.

Re: Is it professional to have a small humidor on your desk at work?

I have yet to be in the business world. I have spent my entire life in school, and I am studying to take the bar exam to become a practicing attorney.

But, as a attorney, I have always planned to have a humidor in my office. Either on my desk, or on a bookshelf. Of course, it is going to be a really nice looking humidor, but probably only a 50 cigar one.

Also, I like the idea stated above about having one humidor also in my desk for my "special" guests. The humi would include some higher end cigars. This is a great idea, and I can see many of my business clients really liking this. So thanks for that idea.

Most likely, my regular humidor would hold 5 Vegas Gold, and 5 Vegas Series "A", and heck, maybe throw in a few Acid's in there for the person who like the flavored stuff. That way everyone gets what they want, in the way of a "Cheap" cigar.
