In a firm with the right culture, I think it would be super cool.

At my job, I'd need a couple locks.

If you're allowed to smoke at work I would think so, but if you can't smoke there I don't see much of a point.

Depends on the employer. Some don't want personal affects visible. I wouldn't work there. As long as you can lock it, it sure comes in handy.

well, if i work in NYC where i hope to get a job, i can step out to lunch and enjoy a nice stogie. I dont intend to smoke at work... but i do intend to relax in a park somewhere and unwind. For refrence what kind of jobs do you have that allow you to have a humidor at work?

That makes sense, on your lunch break. Sorry, must have had a brain-fart.

I can have a humidor at work but I'm a graphic designer (that's a typesetter to you older folks ). I could bring a pet hippo to work and no one would give a rat's ass - or even notice. It's that kind of profession. Or maybe it's just an Arkansas thing; we're pretty laid back.

What's the business? I think if you have a big enough office (so that it doesn't overpower the other furniture) and clients that you may offer a smoke, it would be great. It's a given that you want them, so I didn't mention it--oops, I just did!

I don't see why not as long as its not taking up a lot of work space. I'd ask around first and guage the responces.

Re: Is it professional to have a small humidor on your desk at work?

One of the professors I had in college had a humi in hi office, as well as one other professional. It went great with their decor, and if you weren't a igar smoker, you wouldn't know what it was. The professor's was stocked full of Montecristos, which he shared with some of us. As long as there is no company rule forbidding it, I look at it as being kinda classy.IMHO, it may be a nice edge too, if dealing with a fellow enthusiast.

Re: Is it professional to have a small humidor on your desk at work?

Assuming it is allowed in your particular situation, the humidor on your desk you keep stocked with decent, but inexpensive smokes for the moochers and that keeps them happy. YOUR stuff is in a humidor which you keep LOCKED IN YOUR DESK which keeps you happy. And privileged clients get to pick from your personal stash, which makes them happy and which scores big brownie points for you, which also makes you happy.

You win all the way around that way.
