A Tale of 2 Pepin Blacks... 2 Belicosos, 2 different Sizes
THis is weird. First off, im quite obsessed over the Cuban CLassic line from Pepin... this 'cheaper' Pepin blend is like magic.... no other smoke has the burnt sugar... maple syrupy taste these can have in there best. I guess i also thank them for slowing down my cuban consumption....
to get to the point... the Belicoso or "1970" size from the black label is 5x54.... each and every time. however if you purchase a Collections Del Rey (Pepin sampler) or a Pepin Belicoso Sampler (both can be found all over including HOLTS) your Black label belicoso will be quite different in size, more like 6x54. Strange ey? even more strange is I have real no point to make here. i mean, ive never seen a size change depending on its packaging options.... the taste isnt much different. i mean if you over think it you may find the larger size to be a tad spicey-er, but thats a little to minute to call. I wonder if one day he will call this current 1970 a mini-belicoso and then relase this larger size as the standard. i hope not, everything in the line is freakin perfect ![]() ![]()

![]() And yet... still a worthwhile post. The what's cool about clubstogie. Is this post important? Nope. Is it a very significant detail? Nope. But it is about cigars. And it has a pic. And everyone who reads this is, in fact, at least slightly pleased to now be aware that Pepin Black Belicosos can, in fact, be found in two different sizes. Perhaps it is we who are strange...

Re: A Tale of 2 Pepin Blacks... 2 Belicosos, 2 different Sizes
Paul,
the reason for the difference is that in the "belicosos limited set/collection" you mention, which includes the following:*Tatuaje Cabinet, *Tatuaje Havana VI, *Don Pepin Black Label, Tatuaje Reserva Cojonu 2006, Cabaiguan and Don Pepin JJ. The asterisked items (*Tatuaje Cabinet,*Tatuaje Havana VI, and the *Don Pepin Black Label) in that set are a limited size release of 5.5 x 52. You cannot find that size for those cigars outside that limited set. FWIW, Joe (BillyBarue)

Re: A Tale of 2 Pepin Blacks... 2 Belicosos, 2 different Sizes
I just bought my second Colecciones del Rey sampler last night. These are very tasty. That Tat 2006 Cojonu is perhaps my all time favorite cigar. And the Tat Havana VI belicoso is one that they should start making. It is easily the best in the Havana VI line.
Usually when you get a sampler some of it is good and some of it is filler. Every single one of these are great. It's hard to pick which one to start with. ![]() |
