The cigar scene in Paris, France?

Hello,

The Finnish equivalent for the memorial day was last week and i smoked in memory of all men, who served in the Winter War during WW2.

Anyhow, the point of this thread was to ask, if anyone knows good cigar stores in Paris or maybe lounges etc. I am going there with my wife in couple of weeks, and might want to check them out. Hope there are some european BOTLs out there who can help me if you American friends of mine do not have that information!

and i do not know how you wish "happy memorial day" since its not so happy kinda thing. but maybe you get my point.

anyway. I'll smoke in memory of your loved ones you have lost.

respect

miker

Re: The cigar scene in Paris, France?

Memorial day, for me at least, is a wonderful and happy holiday. Perhaps one of the few I actually enjoy. You see, to me, it is a chance to celebrate all of the great things about people in our country and this world. Great bravery, sacrifice for others, these are all things that bring great joy to my life and my family, and I celebrate accordingly.

Unfortunately, I don't know the slightest thing about shopping in Paris.

Re: The cigar scene in Paris, France?

Here are the main shops I know of:

La Civette de Neuilly (Avenue Charles de Gaulle) - probably the best shop in Paris, great selection, the cigars aren't as badly overly-humidified as in some other shops.
Tabac George V (Avenue George V) - this place is right next to where I stay in Paris, so I go there a lot. There's no walk in, but it has decent selection.
Drugstore Champs-Elysées (Avenue des Champs-Elysées) - good-size walk-in, nice shop.
Lemaire (Avenue Victor Hugo)
Boutique22 (Avenue Citor Hugo) these last two have walk-in humidors, decent selection, expensive accessories

I was there last in March and smoked pretty much everywhere I went. I'm not sure where the recently-enacted ban stands currently, however.

It isn't easy to find aged cigars, by the way, but you can always ask and maybe get lucky.

Most cigar stores in Paris seem to carry the same things, so unless you just have a lot of time to hit different stores, I wouldn't personally bother going to them all (though they're all in decent parts of the city so you'll enjoy the stroll if you do).

Re: The cigar scene in Paris, France?

Ah, Paris. I loved staying there. It was nice to be able to walk into a restaurant, order a coffee or a glass of wine, bust out a good cigar, and start puffing away without someone looking at you like you killed newborn babies and sweet little puppies for a living. I even got compliments on my choices and I spent a few hours chatting it up with some French pipe and cigar lovers. We sat idly in the cafe for about 3 hours, sharing a few bottles of wine and a goodly amount of pipe tobacco and cigars. I'd give my last kidney to go back there.

You should spend some time on the Left Bank while in Paris and try La Casa Del Habano at 169 Boulevard St. Germain. It is a very nice cigar shop/bar in a great part of the city.

I love Paris and wish I could meet you there. Enjoy your trip.
