Mistreated in a Cigar Shop...reviving a topic

I talked a while ago about some bad experiences I had in a local cigar shop. Some of your advice really helped. I have been in there three or four more times sense then to give them a fair chance. Although some of the "regulars" still give me strange looks, I definently enjoy myself a lot more there now. I can talk cigars, to a certain extent, with some of the guys, and one of the guys who works there on Sundays is very nice. He has given me 2 free smokes. I didnt expect it, but I really appreciate it. Thanks for the advice guys, it has helped me really enjoy a particular smoke shop.

Glad things are working out better for you. Don't get too worried if they don't want to talk....not all cigar smokers are BOTL....some are a-holes.....just keep that in mind.

I'm happy that the cigar place turned out ok. Keep enjoying yourself there. Maybe you will help bring out the true BOTLs there.

Re: Mistreated in a Cigar Shop...reviving a topic

When I first quit cigarette smoking and switched over to cigars (last May!) I found the folks at the cigar shoppe closest to me to not only be helpful and extremely nice, but also very well informed and patient with me.

HOWEVER, there are three other shops within a thirty minute drive of me that feature better selections (and much better prices!) where I feel like a total noob, and, when I ask questions, I get all sorts of looks from the "aficionados" sitting in the overstuffed leather chairs in the corner. I like saving money as much as the next guy, but I'll pay the extra buck or two to be able to feel comfortable hanging out and shooting the breeze rather than making my purchase and running out the door for fear that I'm cramping someone else's style.
