Re: Schwarzenegger in trouble for Cuban?

This is silly. I hope the cigar shop tells them it is none of their business. I wonder how many other politicians have Cubans at home? I understand why we have an embargo. I also respect the law to some degree. However, I feel we have a little more to worry about than Someone smoking one Cuban cigar. But, the law is the law.

I'm a Republican but it's time for Schwarzenegger, Fred Thompson, and others to stop being hypocritical and push publicly for the embargo to be lifted. Few things are as unattractive as having one set of rules for the masses and another for the elitists.

Somethings not quite right. when I 've gone to Baja, I was subject to Mexican laws. It doesnt ring that if you buy a cigar legally in Canada and consume it legally under their laws that the US could have anything to say. Plus, has it been confirmed it was a Cuban?

Re: Schwarzenegger in trouble for Cuban?

I read in one of the recent CA's about how the gov't is calling some people with credit card charges at cigar shops overseas to inquire about what was purchased. That was when I found out it was illegal to purchase overseas.

I agree the embargo is ridiculous, but for selfish reasons as a cigar smoker believe it is better for me.

Re: Schwarzenegger in trouble for Cuban?

Personaly I think the media and the government is making way to big of a deal about one politician smoking a Cuban.... I don't know too much on the embargo so I'm gonna read up on it. I really want to know what all the hype is about CC's so I guess if perhaps Castro kicks it and the embargo is lifted then I can give one a try, but until then I guess I'm out of luck.

Credit card companies calling smoke shops to see purchases.... wow, apparently we have no privacy anymore. I'm dreading the day every purchase we make is sent to the god damn government the second it's made so they can monitor everyone.... Anyway, my rant's over. Hope Arnold doesn't get in too much trouble over this stuipd crap...

Not the credit card companies, whatever branch of the gov't in charge of enforcing the embargo.

Re: Schwarzenegger in trouble for Cuban?

Hey guys, the media can go kiss my big ARSE! Here they are exploiting Arnold's Cuban cigar, which is illegal for any American to endulge in. However, this same media is embracing a more costly and illegal event... What is it you ask? Illegals breaching our borders. I apologize for hijaking this thread, but I had to point out the two ILLEGAL events. I personally enjoy Cuban cigars when I can and until I realized it was illegal.

Why would you want the ban lifted? Cubans are easily accessable to Americans even with the ban. If it gets lifted, there will be a huge flood of Americans grabbing up Cuban cigars simply so they can say they're smoking Cubans. This will result in the loss of pretty much all quality control in Cuban factories and a skyrocketing of prices.

Cubans can be had now for relitively reasonable prices without much of a problem. I don't see a reason to change things.
