Nothing was illegal about the habanos JFK smoked.

so that means I should get off for memorial day and july 4th if I'm working in another county then. I see you're point and I know what you mean but it's still bullshit. The embargo is a bad law that no longer serves a purpose or has any real grounds in reality. I'm still trying to figure out how one U.S. law can apply to us while we are out of the country while others don't. When in Germany we're not expected to drive 65 on the autobahn.

ps great chatting with you last night

Alright, I know you are smarter than that. US highway speed regulations are attached to locations. Since we have no jurisdiction to limit speeds on highways outside of our country, then you have no applicable limitations. Additionally, highway speeds are actually set by state legislation. State laws do not apply outside of the US (typically).

I may or may not agree with the embargo. But the 4th of July holiday is a work holiday, not a forced absence of work. There are plenty of US citizens in the US that work on the 4th of July. It is a calendar event that businesses can choose to take off.

Yeah, but if you work the 4th you generally get paid an extra day since it is a federal holiday. Double time and a half back when I wasn't salaried.

Re: Schwarzenegger in trouble for Cuban?

Lots of hourly workers (grocery store, etc) these days get 1.5 their normal hourly pay around here, and they usually have almost no say in whether or not they will work the holiday.

Fortunately, I don't work in such an industry. However, working at UPS, we work more days than most, day after thanksgiving, for example, among others.

One more quick point..

I would *love* to see Cuban tobacco in the hands of the Padrons, Fuentes, Toranos, Pepin Garcia, Rocky Patel, etc. They've all done very well with non-Cuban tobacco so I can only imagine what delicious blends they could come up with if they were allowed to use tobacco from Cuba.

I'm actually going the other way on this. i'm going to hate to see what happens when they get their hands on it. It's not like cuba is going to hand over the best stuff for others to use. I just hope I have the money to stack up on what I like before they start messing around with the blends

Re: Schwarzenegger in trouble for Cuban?

CC are illegal to smoke in the US & illegal for US citizens to purchase & smoke outside of the US.

If someone gifts you one outside of the US and you smoke it outside the US that is legal.

The deals he made with Crime Bosses to rig the election and get voted into office that was illegal.

But the smokes, nothing illegal there.
