Gotta love the media:
"..bought a cuban partagas.."
"..was it cuban ?"
"..dunno, it's gone.."

An absurd narrative that will hopefully serve to bring to recent light the absurdity of the embargo in post-cold war times. Well, cold war v1.0 anyway.

They also omitted the fact that there are "legal" versions of Cohiba and Montecristo. Man I hate the big media practices.

Lets nail all of the rich, famous, connectd, etc. who have smoked a Cuban. Too bad JFK isn't still around. We could start with him. Think of all the money we could add to the treasury. (Well, we probably couldn't have nailed JFK. He was a Democrat who, I'm sure, was only interested in helping the poor, downtrodden Cubans before he slammed the door in their faces.)

Well, that's it. Better lock this obvious dangerous criminal up. I mean, the next thing you know he'll be smoking in public

They are fellow lovers of the leaf who unfortunately in this instance have to do so under public scrutiny. I think it's not a bad thing to have these examples in light of the "single channel" enforcement that has been going on. The more tolerance shown for public figures, the harder it is to have any actual enforcement with teeth against us regular folks.

And... the rich famous and connected encompass those that provide jobs / pay the vast majority of taxes in this couintry, so you might want to lighten up on that one a bit.

Re: Schwarzenegger in trouble for Cuban?

I didn't realize that it was illegal for US citizens to smoke Cuban cigars even if their out of the country, that just seems completely ridiculous. So does that mean if a US citizen is to go to Amsterdam for a trip and went into one of their "coffee shops" to light up a joint they are also breaking the law because their a US citizen????

Nope. It's illegal for US citizens to purchase anything from Cuba.

If someone is giving a CC out of the country and smoke it there, I don't know if that is illegal.

Re: Schwarzenegger in trouble for Cuban?

What I got out of that article was, "Schwarzenegger favors costly Daniel Marshall cigars with personalized labels".

I had never heard of this brand before. They don't seem costly to me ($119 for 25 Dominican or Honduran at Bonita) and I like the fact they are aged a full year before leaving the factory. Has anyone tried a Daniel Marshall cigar?

Not that I agree with it, but this freedom was tossed a long time ago.
