Should I smoke on our porch?

Theres a light rain going, and I don't smoke indoors. However I'm really in the mood for a smoke. We have a porch attatched to our house which leads to the garage. Over the years it has become more decorated due to my mother being creative (crazy, irrational...."creative") so its not just a junk room.

We store our shoes, a few jackets and have some furniture out there. The SE facing windows we have screens in for the summer, but the NW facing are solid panes. Not much of a breeze going through the room.

Even though its just a breezeway, its still my parents house and everyone comes and goes through it throughout the day. I don't want to be disrespectul and stink things up. If I opened both doors to create a breeze that goes through, does it seem OK to have a cigar out there? Would a fan and both doors open be okay?

Re: Should I smoke on our porch?

After seeing the title of the thread, my first thought was "why? is your living room broken?" but then I saw that it's your parents' house. In that case, why don't you ask them?

This sounds more like an entryway than a porch. I tried to smoke in ours once and you really need a breeze to move the smoke. It will linger and attach itself to coats, etc... Get a box fan or use a different place.

Re: Should I smoke on our porch?

Oops! I voted yes without looking to see that there was no breeze through the breezeway... smell would stay, especially in the fabrics. I would change my vote and set up a couple of lawn chairs outside.

The porch ain't so bad, man. I smoke on our's all the time when it's raining, and it's not so bad. It gets real humid, but it's not too bad. I say go for it!

Cigars don't stay lit well in the rain :P. I'd wait until tomorrow morning and have a stogie right after breakfast

Re: Should I smoke on our porch?

I smoke out on my porch, its kind of like that only its got screening all the way around. It never smells, and if you create a nice breeze way you should be fine.

Re: Should I smoke on our porch?

I smoke in the living room from time to time and it will smell fairly strongly for about 2 or 3 hours but after that it begins to fade, and I would say within 12-24 hours there is no more smell at all. If there isn't a bunch of furniture and carpet and if there is any air movement at all it probably wouldn't smell for more than a few hours tops.

Re: Should I smoke on our porch?

I voted no because its not actually your porch. If your creative mother comes down tomorrow and smells even a hint of cigars in her outdoor living space.....

Well I can only imagine how bad those consequences could be.

Re: Should I smoke on our porch?

Its got some summer furniture in it and one of those carpets from home depot just to cover the cement. Nothing that would the smell would hang in, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I set up a nice chair in the garage and tomarrow I'll ask.
