Cardenas Cigars out of Sacramento. Nice cigars, good prices for what you get. Handmade cigars from under $2, the most expensive ones are around $12 each I think. I love the double corona maddies and the rothschild nattys--both under $3 each. www.cardenascigars.com

Hey, BILLYBARUE

I hear ya on the Tabacalera Tropical cigars. They are makin' some fantastic smokes, I've tried quite a few and other than poor burn on some they have really surprised me. Especially their bundles. Try the Famous Value Line Nicaraguan 300, they are made by TT.

Great thread!

Re: sleeper cigars

The Habanos Puros Fuerte :

Amazingly flavorful full bodied maduro smoke that is expertly constructed. After smoking 2 of the siglo's from Uncle Mikey's shop I was forced to go back when he had specials going and pick up a box of the #4's, got them home, opened them and I guess due to no cello, these bad boys had plume on them already. Great sticks, get them from mrbundles.com

Not cheap, but not expensive either.
I second that!

I agree; they make a lot of really nice, rich cigars.

Re: sleeper cigars

This thread is putting thoughts of buying cigars I haven't tried yet into my head. What should I do?

I think TT is making great strides to overcome some construction and burn problems they have had in the past, but I love the flavor of their sticks. Many of which are closeout deals at Holts - see TXMatt's cheap smokes thread (http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthread.php?t=57242).

Of TT cigars that I have had and like very much are the Condega Connecticuts, Brahma, Connecticut Crazies, Nicaraos, Don Juan Special Cuban Blends, Buena Cosechas.

Jim Cronin at Top Shelf Cigar has some very nice sticks from TT at high end (Top Shelf select [Blue and Black]) as well as a "bundle-type" cigar the Del Sol. JBI was kind enough to send me some of these and they look awesome - should smoke through some in the next couple of weeks.

BTW, Top Shelf's "Top Shelf Select - Green Label" is a Pepin cigar. Kind of tells you something if Pepin is in the same Top Shelf Select lineup with the other two Tropical cigars (Black and Blue Label). Pepin did some work for TT before he started out on his own, and I have heard that TT may even supply him with tobacco still for his some of his own sticks. Pepin is putting out so many sticks these days I wouldn't be surprised if this is very true.

Back to the Illusione - I think this is a real effort on TT's part to really put out a top notch stick with some slick marketing to try and build their reputation. Curiously, that may be hard to do as they don't appear to associate their name very closely with TT.

Cheers,

BillyBarue

I can't agree with you more. All the closeouts from Holt's I have tried were very tasty. I been wanting to get out to Top Shelf for a while to try some of those sticks and check the scene out in general since I hear its a very nice place.

Habanos puros
El Original
ASH Experience
Butera
Nording

Nothing to ridiculous price wise but some surprisingly good smokes here.

Re: sleeper cigars

Slow Aged 826 by Perdomo. Both the Nat and Maduro are very tasty sticks and for about a 1.20$ a piece on CBID a very good value smoke. The Natural is very creamy and rich. The Maddie is smooth and spicy.

The other day I had a 5 Vegas Limitada a Ghurka Expedition and Slow Aged by Perdomo Maddie. The 5 Vegas & the Ghurka were both good and enjoyable sticks but the Slow Aged was the best constructed, smoothest draw, best flavor all round blew the other two out of the water IMHO. Just my 2:
