Help with my Humidor (Humidifying device)

I have a 120ct. Humi which I love.
The problem is that the Humidifying device (Brick) that is on the lid held on by velcro that is held on by double sided tape keeps coming loose.
I get home from work check on my sticks (Why I do not know) and there it is laying on top of my fine cigars.

It annoys the shit outta me.
I put some really good double sided tape I got from McMaster Carr on and it stayed for a couple days then the same damn thing happened.

The RH is about 70%

I don't know what ot do or should I say, I do not know what type of glue or whatnot I can use that will not effect (or is it affect) my sticks adversely.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
B

I have banner hem tape i can send you a couple of strips, this stuff will hold it on. if you want to give it a try.

Its just a very good double sided tape or just switch to beads.

I have something that may work well for you. It is a type of velcro, but made with plastic rather that cloth/threads. PM me your addy and I'll get it out for you Saturday.

you might try some velcro strips...or just do as I did and give up. I went to beads and have them laying in a tray along with my digital hygrometer.

All you guys are GREAT,
Thanks for the quick replies.
I DO have Velcro but what holds the Velcro on is what is not adhering.

Thanks again

Maybe pop a staple or two through the velcro strip? This would likely give you some more holding power.

i've used magnets & steel plates for mine-seem to come w/good adhesive-could always just take the element off the lid & stand it up on the back wall

Re: Help with my Humidor (Humidifying device)

switch to beads...I have 2 tubes in my 150 ct. One on top in the tray an the second underneath. I keep the tube next to (or on top of) either a tubo or a cello wrapped stick just in case a molecule of H2O drips out, but it has never happened.

I got rid of all my bricks, gels, foams etc after I switched to beads. Great for travel too. I just pop a tube of beads in my traveldor. One tube will hold my home humi for as long as I am away (usually only a few days to a week).

Call VIPER...he will help you out

yeah I gotta admit, I am a believer too. I've had mine for about 1-2 months now and don't think I'll ever go back to "the old ways"

I was going to suggest a magnet, but it seems that it already has been covered. You could always lay the brick down and have your cigars lay on top of it. I don't see a reason why it would be ineffective.

Re: Help with my Humidor (Humidifying device)

Do you guys let your beads touch the cigars at all? I have mine in my rectangle humidifier on top but I have extra beads on the lower level in a nylon stocking but really no place to put them so they are touching one of my cigars.

Re: Help with my Humidor (Humidifying device)

I've never had a problem with my tubes of beads touching a cigar, but I generally keep the cello wrapped or Tubos touching my beads.

Re: Help with my Humidor (Humidifying device)

http://www.heartfeltindustries.com/

Now your biggest problem is figuring out which beads you want. They come in 60,65 and 70 % humidity levels. This becomes a personal preference.

I like my smokes at 65%. Before coming to the jungle I was always told 70-70 is perfect, but I found my smokes felt and smoked too wet...I dropped down to 65 and have not had a problem with any stick burning badly (Tunneling, canoeing, going out) Some people swear that ISOMs are better at 60. I'd start at 65% and keep your humi that way for at least 3 months. That will give it time to settle and the cigars to adapt. Smoke a few sticks and see if they taste better/different/worse. Then go up or down from there.

Like I said before, I like the clear tubes of beads because I can pop one in a travel humidor when I'm on the go. The remaining tube can hold over my box at home for a few days.

Just my , but if you search for Viper, you'll see a lot of people giving their ...and its all good.
