OMG - treasure and he didn't know it...

Here's irony for you, as usual in the spring I begin my search for Fuente BTL's. (I know I should look around christmas, but who's thinking then? besides, my tobacconist doesn't have a great relationship with "the family"- so he never gets BTL's)

While at a meeting the other night, I'm herfing with a buddy (one of the 3 I try to aquire BTL's for) and he asks me about that "candy-stick" cigar I gave him last year... What's it called, couldn't remember if it was that good (we'd smoked a number of cigars that week), etc... I ask why he's inquiring. He says, a friend gave him a box for christmas, and he couldn't remember if they were worth keeping around?!?!?!?

After I smacked him upside the head, I told him he'd stumbled into a treasure... keep them and share on special occasions ...

I couldn't believe it!!! here he was sitting on a BOX and didn't know what he had??? I guess I'll have to figure out a new "unique" cigar to bring to the gang this spring!

that's not even funny. I really need new friends.

Personally, I would have fought it, but the urge to do him a 'favor' and take them off his hands, or exchange for some real quality smokes (maybe 858s?) would have been excruciating.

Speaking of temptation, while they are very expensive at retail, the Gurkha Legend Anniversario can be gotten for about $6-$8 each in 6 packs from CigarBid (which is, if I am not mistaken, owned and operated by the devil.) It's an aged (8 years claimed) 6 x 60 perfecto.

I picked up a couple of 6-ers a two weeks ago, and the one I smoked (I just couldn't wait past day 5) was outstanding. To some it may not be quite the smoke that a BTL is, but its certainly quite good, and relatively unusual...
