Re: For curious friends?

I enjoy an occasional mild smoke so I allways have a few. And I agree if your trying to introduce a newbie to cigars, a mild smoke is the way to go.

A couple I like to share, are the Perdomo Champagne, and La casa Torano.

I gave a friend an cuban H upmann #2 recently, and after about an inch I found it snuffed out in the ashtray.....oouchhhh! The same friend Gave me a Hobie cat 16 a week later. So I guess I did okay

Many times a newbie will get more enjoyment out of something mild, thats whats important.

Good for you introducing cigars to your friends. My best friend got me started, and it has cost me dearly $$$$$$$$$....what a friend.

Re: For curious friends?

I don't have the means to give out cigars at this point in the hobby (sometime maybe ) but if I did then I would get the $3.00 A.Funtes at my local B&M.

A good portion of the "seconds" that you'll find are good gift-gars for casual friends

When I lived in Nebraska, I had a Friday afternoon club in my 45x54 airconditioned/heated shop. We'd put up a ping pong table, cover it with a sheet, get the grill out, drink lots of adult beverages and three of the 10-12 of us would have a cigar. This went on for years and is the one thing I miss about Nebraska. It was hard to leave friends of 35 years but I'm glad I moved. Fresh air and low taxes here in Wyoming but, alas, no one to smoke cigars with

My one and only herf, I guess, was when Tripp stopped for a visit. Pretty sad, huh? If anyone stops by for a cigar, I don't have to worry about parting with a "premium" stick. My average cost on 470 sticks is $2.16 per cigar (without shipping) It's good to live the "simple" life (so to speak).

I'm in the same boat as you,,retired and moved to a small town in Minn..I guess I'm lucky to have my wife and two bulldogs sit with me while I have a smoke.
Jerry in Minnesota.

Sigh, I don't even have a dog to keep me company My wife will sit with me on the patio on occasion (upwind) which is nice. We had a neat Beagle cross that I dearly loved but, between us being gone from home quite a bit and my wife's allergies, we gave him to a nice couple with two small boys. I just hated dropping "Snoop" off at the boarding kennel. Each time, it felt like the day I had to take my grandma to the care home. Just about ripped my heart out.

I'm with you on that one. I'm trying to get my buddy into cigars, and he thinks it is interesting, but he keeps buying those little flavored swisher sweets....

Re: For curious friends?

I personally hate to give away anything that I myself wouldn't smoke, generosity flaw I guess.

Generally I keep a stock of Famous cigars around that I pawn off to friends. There are a few people I'd share something better with, but I have about 8 million Dominican 4000's and Nicaraguan 1000's that I can give away.

Amen to that. I figure that I'm trying to get this person to follow me down the slope an the odds of that are slim if all I give them is the Joya Del Jefe's I got off cbid for $11/bundle (don't ask why I got them, I need to just throw them out).

Side note: Nic 1000 churchills double in strength when cut in half to make Nic500 Rothechilds.
