Morning cigars

Hey fellas, just had to say, Im not usually a morning cigar guy. Im usually the type the holds off untill about 3 or 4 to lite up. But since ive been opening the shop for the past few weeks, im here at 930 in the morning. I gotta say, there is something for walking into the shop and having the smell of cigars and cedar just as highlights in the air first thing in the morning. Then kicking my shoes off, putting on my slippers, and getting down to business. But after the hard 10 minutes of work doing that i hit the GO button on the coffee machine and brew either a fresh french roast with some chicory or a "roasted that day" Sumatra. Then walk over to the Bose, flip on some Marselis or Baker, or maybe some Getz and walk into the humidor to paruse and see how my babies are doing that day!! But lately ive been picking out a lighter bodied cigar to start the day right, today as im writing this its a Nat Sherman Host series Hampton. I walk out and see the wrapper in the morning daylight thats streaming in from the wall of windows in the front of the shop. Noticing how perfect the light brown wrapper is with fresh eyes. Then I light up a Cedar spill and the scent of burning wood fills the area next to the bar (something i really like) and i toast the foot and draw to start it up. The thing that hits me is how good this cigar is with a fresh pallate. Its much more complex then the last time i had it for a mid-afternoon smoke. But in the case of this morning, i pour myself a mug of Sumtra and cream, sit in the recliner and just let the experience of the two flavors marrying on my tongue prepare me for the day. I think im getting hooked on starting the day at work with a good cigar

Re: Morning cigars

Man you call that work, love Winton and good jazz, cigars and coffee.

Sounds like I'll have to stop and visit your shop on the way to Fly Fishing in Montana this summer.

Don't usually smoke in the morning, but when I have the time and do I either go to a Fuente Double Chateau or La Unica lonsdale. They are mild, but go well with a nice cup of Green Mountain Vermont Blend, or Dark Magic. When I fish I'll always have a morning smoke and like Don Diego Monarchs that come in the tube and are protected.

Have a nice day KJP

Re: Morning cigars

You make it sound so tempting. I cant get myself to do it though. I have found that my body slows down as soon as I put some Nicotine in it. I usually wait until the evening to smoke a cigar. When I am on vacation though, there is nothing like a good smoke, and a hot cup of coffee to start the day.

YOu are one lucky SOB, that being said for morning smokes I like AVO XO, they are mild and flavorful and go great with a morning cup o' Joe.

Re: Morning cigars

Ya lucky bastage. I gotta keep my cigar store here in my office. I think you'd have to drive over 100 miles to find a store with a larger inventory than I have within 6 foot of me.

Re: Morning cigars

I have only had the pleasure of a mid-morning cigar a couple of times....with coffee and a paper, it seems to be one of the best things going!
