Maria Mancini's

Morning Apes, I know some of you have sung the praises of this cigar. Just got 10 of them from JR's; 5 nats and 5 maduros for either 9 or 11 bucks for 5, cant find the invoice. Either way, dirt cheap. Smoking a natural as we speak. What can I say. Wish I had found them sooner. $2 smoke that looks, tastes, and smokes better than many, I repeat, many much pricier higher touted cigars out there. Attractive, well constructed, very good draw and burn, with a nice spicey, peppery, honest tobacco taste. That's about the extent of my reviewing adjectives. I give it 3 yumms on my 4 yumm scale.I think you could put these down for awhile and they would only improve.Would not be embarrassed to pass these out to my cigar loving friends. About the only negative I have found with this cigar is that the ash is somewhat flakey. I even find the aroma pleasant. This semi review brings up something to ponder, and that is why amongst the hundreds of brands on the market a cigar with as many good qualities as this has can sell for 2 dollars a stick? Frank B

Great semi-review for me... Got me interested in trying a sampler. Can't ask for more than that on a Friday.

Re: Maria Mancini's

I like the Mancinis a lot. Some times the H-2000 naturals have darker wrappers than the Maduros, you won't see that in a sampler but you can if you have a box of each.

You smoke the Magic Mountain, DeGaulle, Robusto Larga, what? I have been thinking about getting some of these for awhile. I wish JR still had the MM humidor boxes.

I bought the MM sampler,I guess over a year ago and bought a box of the DeGaulle's and got a free sampler of the MM's and I agree they are an excellent value.. And your right age makes them even better Frank. I now know what I'm smoking tonight,a DeGaulle..

Re: Maria Mancini's

I've been smoking these on a regular basis since November, first box I bought was the DeGaulles, still have a few left, I got 2 boxes of Magic Mountains, during JR's 12 days of X-mas sale, one each of the naturals and the Maduros. It's hard to tell the two apart just to look at them. I like the MM better the Degaulles are really pressed flat, feel kinda funny to smoke, but both are great for the price. If you haven't tried the Mayorgas yet, you might really enjoy them and they are also really reasonably priced.

Re: Maria Mancini's

I love the Magic Mountain. One of my everyday go to cigars. Excellent construction, great amount of smoke, even burn and supberb flavor makes this cigar one of the best values around.

I have only found these through JR. Does anybody else know of another supplier of these fantastic cigars?

Re: Maria Mancini's

I have smoked the Magic Mountain in both wrappers, the Robusto Larga in maduro & the DeGaulle in nattie & they are all fine cigars.
I believe that www.mikescigars.com in Florida carries the Maria Mancini line also.

I dug a DeGaulle out for a mid afternoon smoke......very good cigar, with a nice spicy flavor profile. It did get a bit hot & bitter when I got it down to about 2 inches, but was ready to drop it anyhow. Nice bit of age on this stick....more smooth spice & less pepper due to about a year or two worth of ageing.

trdhrdr: good going on the Mayorga recommendation! I am starting to run out of those, Love the little gordito Belis. Great $2 stick; soo many great $2 sticks to choose from!

I am trying some new inexpensive smokes: have a box of each La Rosa Especial Mi Favorita and Belinda Black Epicure No. 5 on the way. I almost went with the 5M's (Maria Mancini Magic Mountain Maduro) instead fo the La Rosas though. Anyone have either of these before? (sorry for thread jack)

Re: Maria Mancini's

txmatt,
The Maria Mancini is the better cigar of the 3 IMHO. It has been a long time since I smoke a La Rosa Especial, but full bodied & spicy comes to mind. The Belinda Black is medium bodied with a very nice, almost bubblegum-like nose, but the flavor can turn a bit bitter on you. The BB is also a bit underfilled IMO.
One to keep in mind, & a real keeper IMO, is the Aristoff Black.

Sorry for the threadjack.

Aristoff Black aye? I have some ****** funds ready to send my launderer, once I manage to squeeze these boxes into the humi, I will have to see about squeezing some MMMMM and Aristoff Blacks in as well; maybe I can get the bastage to split some boxes with me. That is if he hasn't spent too much buying them from overseas lately..

Re: Maria Mancini's

Man, I love the Magic Mountains in maduro! These are very tasty smokes, especially for the price. They have some kind of spice to them that to me tastes kind of Nutmeg-ish. I don't know if that's a good description, but it's what comes to mind for me.

Plus, I just get a kick out of saying Maria Mancini Magic Mountain maduro.

Re: Maria Mancini's

Thanks to one of the SeanGar contest, I have one of the Magic Mountain's in the humidor right now. I think it will be picked up shortly. After this thread I know that it won't last long in there.

Hey Matt,

I would say that the Magic Mountain is one of the finest inexpensive cigars around. Great smoke and it makes a wonderful everyday smoke. The Mayorga is a very good smoke also and I don't think you can go wrong there. I haven't had the La Rosas, but knowing the quality of the Magic Mountain I would recommend those.

Let us know what you think and have fun!

Re: Maria Mancini's

OK - I'll go against the tide. I don't like the MMMM's at all. I bought a box during JRs 12 days of christmas. To me that have little to no flavor. It's a shame because they are beautiful looking sticks and they do have a fair amount of smoke. I let them rest for month, no improvement. Then two months, no improvement. There just too 'blah' for me, nothing there to get excited about. Today I gave the rest of the box to my buddy that will smoke anything for free.
