The OS's are great, especially if you need to monitor multiple locations with one base unit (you can monitor up to 3).

The adjustable hygrometers are very nice too, you just turn the dial left or right to adjust and press the set button. I do recommend recalibrating in case you over shoot or under shoot your target mark.

Hope this helps

Could either of you explain this technology a little? Do you need the weather station or what? Sorry I'm completely uninitiated on this sorta stuff. I could see my dad wanting one (each) to monitor indoor, outdoor and humidor.

This is the first I've heard of doing this. Could this explain the -7% I'm experiencing or do I just have a bad one? Just received and salt tested my Western III yesterday. Was surprised at the results because I've been reading on this board they are usually close to +/- 1 or so.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Re: Cigarmony Hygrometers (Any Thoughts?)

Oregon Scientific is having a sale right now on their Starck yellow medium music atomic weather station for $20.

I've been using my Large for several years and its absolutely wonderful rock solid and extremely accurate. Saw this deal last weak and got in on it x 3 (spare for me and 2 presents)
It's a full weather station In/out temp & RH expandable up to 3 wireless remote units, barometer, moonphase, radio etc

Here's a pic from the other day when it came in.
The gray is my 2yr old one and the yellow is the new one. The sensor...is in my humi so lol but it looks exactly like the base but smaller Sensor size is 3x3x1.4 so its not the slimmest type but its great in humi's or coolers that can handle the tiny extra fatness

Use the coupon code webthx07 for $10 off...which takes care of shipping

What comes with the Starck Music Station? Is one sensor included or do you have to kick in the additional $30 for the sensor to get started?

This is a link to the additional sensors:
http://www2.oregonscientific.com/sho...id=131&pid=699

I also saw that cigarmony.com has the sensors as well.

Re: Cigarmony Hygrometers (Any Thoughts?)

It comes with the base and 1 sensor...problem is oregon scientific has been sold out of spare sensors for the Starck a LONG time...each sensor was $15...so basically for 5 bucks more you can get the base as well Thats why I jumped on this when I saw it.
Base uses 4 AA and the sensor uses 2 AAA but it also comes with an AC adapter for the base ( I Highly recommend Sanyo Eneloops the best rechargeables out on the market they are low self discharge!)

So here's the pic of the trio my old grey Large, and new yellow medium and the sensor

Re: Cigarmony Hygrometers (Any Thoughts?)

Ok, I apologize in advance for this but if I understand things correctly so far you get one sensor when you purchase the base unit. However, if you want to add the additional two sensors for other humi's you can't becasue OS is always out of stock on the sensors?

I have been trying to find the additional sensors on the OS website without success. Do you have a model# or something just for the sensor?

Interesting, I just bought two more last week, one is -1 the other is -1/-2.

How long have you had it? When I buy a new one, I usually throw it into one of my humidors and watch it to see how it reads compared to the one already in there. Usually they are off for the first 8 hours or so, but after a day they are usually within 1 or 2%.

I think I now have 11 of these, I calibrated the first nine using the boveda kit and just used one to calibrate the last two.

Two suggestions, I might consider changing the battery. The batteries that come with these units are not very good.

The other problem could be the salt test. I am not a huge fan of salt testing, if you add too much water or not enough water it may be inaccurate. How long did you salt test for and was it in a sealed container? Also, did you salt test immediately after you opened the box?

Just purchased the unit and salt tested it the same night I got it. I've only done 2 salt tests and already I'm not real confident in the test. Just a few weeks ago, I salt tested my 5 year old Radio Shack hygrometer. It came back at 72%. No problem, I just "add 3%" when I look at it. So I got the Western III a few day ago and salt tested it. I figured I'd throw the Radio Shack hygro in there too just to make sure it was consistent from the last test. Well, this time it came out dead on at 75%. In other words, the results were 3% different from 3 weeks ago. Now maybe this isn't a HUGE deal but it doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence in the test. Maybe I should just relax and say "close enough?", I don't know.

I checked it at 24 hours AND at 36 hours and it read 68%. I had it triple bagged in ziplocks. The table salt/water mixture I created was wet, yet I could turn the cap upside down and nothing fell out.

Does anyone see anything wrong in the way I performed the test?

If I read his comment correctly he's saying that the sensors are $15 and are out of stock but for $5 more ($20 Total) you get the main unit and a sensor.

Just curious if anyone has done the test with Heartfelt's beads. Seems you'd know for absolute certain.
