Re: Tired of Cheap Lighters!!

I feel your lighter pain. I went through tons. I got a Jim Beam Zippo and put the insert in it. Worked like a champ. I had that thing going for 1 year until I broke it, not the lighter fault, I dropped and stepped on it. Got another insert and that works like a champ as well.

I cant seem to get a lighter to last me more than about 10 smokes. I purge it when I refill and still, all these non name brand torch lighters keep dying on me.

I just picked up a Firebird by Colibri @ Walgreens for $9 so we will see if this is any better but im bummed it does not have a way of showing how much fuel is left.

Whats a GREAT lighter for under $30?
that's my go go to lighter there...and my girl managed to steal it from me..

It sounds like possibly you've got your flame adjusted too high, or are over toasting the foot when you go to light...possibly?

I have a Colibri Firebird that I picked up at a local stoner shop (the only place that was open on a Sunday that had torch lighters) and I've honestly never had a better lighter. I have a Colibri Quantum series, which is problematic beyond belief, but this cheap 10 buck Firebird has been my staple car lighter for god knows how long.

Those are amazing. With that triple flame, I can light a 60+ rg stick in under ten seconds of burn time. You just have to be very careful to turn the flame down as low as it will burn, because those things really are powerful enough to disfigure a penny.

Thumbs up Re: Tired of Cheap Lighters!!

Ronsons are damn good lighters considering how cheap they are. Less than three bucks and i'm pushing four months of use on mine. Lights every time!

Indeed! It's a reliable cheap torch, and it wont hurt too bad if it breaks or is lost...BTW the troops love them,I've sent quite a few over there...

I purchased a xikar a few weeks ago. The guy at the B&M filled it for me. When I used it the first time, I was disappointed.
After "tweaking" it myself, (purged and refilled) it worked just fine. And, drumroll please,...It has a fuel window. Advise: Use Quality Butune.

$49.95. If it quits on me, I take it back to the shop and get a replacement at no charge. How good is that?

Re: Tired of Cheap Lighters!!

lets see, you could get 9 ronson's & a can of lava, vector or king butane for $30-you'd have enough gas for a year & never have to buy another lighter!

Re: Tired of Cheap Lighters!!

I don't have much to add. I have a bunch of cheap ones and a few good ones. I haven't had any fail in a long time. Maybe it's because I switch around between them. I have always used only the Vector fuel since I bought a case of it a few years ago. Maybe that has helped also.

Re: Tired of Cheap Lighters!!

I've never even tried a torch lighter, just stick with wooden matches or a 2 dollar bic. Seems to work everytime. Is there really a big difference?

Re: Tired of Cheap Lighters!!

They need to include the fuel window in the description. I have not found any site that says the Xikar Enigma has a fuel window.
It's not that big of a deal, just would be nice
I think I might check out the Ronson JetLite

What butane are you using? If it's the Ronson or one of the other cheapies, that's the real problem here. Go with Vector or Lava and just about any crappy lighter works pretty good. The Ronson torch is so cheap and reliable it's hard to go wrong. The PB-207 is a great choice for a around your price point.
