Visiting El Credito and El Rey de los Habanos factories..

Hi all,

I'll be visiting S.Florida next week and I have a couple of questions about these places, specificaly about El Rey de los Habanos. My past experience with el Credito tells me that there is not much of a price savings at the factory compared to what you can get at an online retailer or just taking a drive over to Mike's Cigars. Does this hold true for Don Pepins place? Might a box be a couple of bucks cheaper? Seconds? Does the factory even have a retail operation?

Any help form Gorillias in the know would help.

Thanks

I think you should definitely stop by and pick up a few things, you can't really save any money, but they will have some things you probably can't find anywhere else. I bought a few boxes from them and the cut me a deal, not to mention it was fun to meet Don Peppin Garcia and Pete Johnson. When you're done, walk across the street to El Titan de Bronze and meet Willy and the gang there. They roll some really tasty sticks that are the only true bargain I found down there, buy them buy the bundle without boxes and bands and you can save a significant amount of cash. After a few months on the cedar, these sticks are becoming the ones I reach for first. Enjoy Calle Ocho, its a really unique place, I'm planning another trip this fall.

Now there is another cigar store across the street?

Looks like a bigger humidor is also in order now.

Thanks...that was the kind of info I needed.

Oh yeah... Pepin's place is closed on Saturday. El Credito closes at 4pm. Plan accordingly.

One thing that did catch my eye was the beautiful humidor at the El Credito factory. It was made to hold each size of the Serie R. If it wasn't several grand, I would have bought it. Next time I say.

Re: Visiting El Credito and El Rey de los Habanos factories..

I was in little Havana last November and will return this winter. The factories are small, but it is great to see them rolling some of my favorite smokes and meeting some of the people who are there. Plus, there is nothing like a fresh rolled cigar, especially from Pepin. Delicious. I enjoyed one overlooking the ocean sipping on a scotch.
